BESTIA first team likely to succumb to visa issues for BLAST Austin Major
Problems with visas have affected some players before the upcoming CS2 Major in Austin, and now an entire team is at risk of not being able to attend this prestigious event. The South American qualifiers BESTIA may miss the major due to circumstances beyond their control, as it was disclosed that two of the team’s players are facing difficulties […]
The upcoming CS2 Major in Austin has posed visa challenges for individual players, and now it seems that an entire team, BESTIA from South America, may be unable to attend due to difficulties obtaining U.S. entry visas.
With an incomplete lineup of five players, BESTIA would have no choice but to relinquish the chance for CS2 competition, paving the way for second-place Brazilian team, Legacy, to potentially take their place instead.
Legacy set to replace BESTIA in Austin: “Are we just another number?”
On May 18th, BESTIA unveiled an initiative aimed at gathering backing for their team, as it became known that two players, Luciano “luchov” Herrera and Tomas “tomaszin” Corna, were still waiting on their U.S. visas.
In an effort to inform the public about BESTIA’s ineligibility for the World Cup, the campaign labeled #ArgentinaAlMundial was extensively shared across different social media outlets.
In a significant boost, the team BESTIA was poised to achieve a historic first for Argentina at a Counter-Strike Major. Regrettably, it seems their chance has slipped away and time has run out for them today.
After their elimination at IEM Dallas, Eduardo “dumau” Wolkmer of the team Legacy shared with Dust2.us that they had been given permission to step in and replace BESTIA in Austin during June.
Indeed, it seems quite likely that the event will transpire, as Dumau put it. Regrettably, we couldn’t emerge victorious during the SA MRQ. Our performance wasn’t up to par and it was disheartening because, to be candid, we felt we had the potential to succeed.
As Legacy, following our loss against 3DMAX at IEM Dallas on May 20th, I’m committed to staying in North America and honing my skills in preparation for the upcoming major, despite there being no formal announcement regarding a potential replacement for BESTIA from either BLAST or Valve. The competition is fierce, but I’m eager to prove myself on the global stage!
The Major is approaching quickly, so we’re getting ready, staying put, and simply savoring the present. Yet, deep down, we yearn to be there and demonstrate our worthiness.” He concluded with this thought.
Why is it our misfortune that the championship is being held in a nation known for its excessive bureaucracy in revenue matters? This isn’t just about being unable to participate, it’s also about missing out on the financial rewards, the prize money we rightfully deserve, and the recognition that comes with it. It’s about not having our team’s emblems displayed and not being enshrined in the game itself.
Have I invested a significant portion of my life into this pursuit? I believe my influence on the evolution of Counter-Strike, specifically in Argentina, has been relatively small. This is likely the consensus among BESTIA as an organization and each individual player within it. Could it be that we are merely seen as one of many contributors rather than unique or exceptional figures?
Nicolás “Noktse” Dávila, BESTIA
Time running out for BESTIA as Austin Major approaches
Dumau’s interview, which suggested that Legacy might take over from BESTIA, sparked excitement among the community. In response, BESTIA player Nicolás “Noktse” Dávila posted another plea for support on Twitter. He questioned what action BLAST and Valve would take if a top-tier team faced such circumstances. He also expressed curiosity about whether they understand the challenges an Argentine organization encounters in securing investment and establishing a presence within the circuit.
Previously, Tomaszin expressed his worry over the visa application process, stating at that moment he simply wanted the situation resolved. He also mentioned feeling let down because it seemed like Valve and organizer BLAST could not provide sufficient backing for the team.
He summarized, “All I really want is to pursue my passion.” He added, “Thank you for continuing to use these networks. It’s because of you that we haven’t given up hope.
The BLAST Austin Major kicks off on June 3, and BESTIA is slated to start in the initial round. So far, neither BLAST nor Valve has spoken out about the current situation or if extra administrative assistance has been provided at this point.
