Best Coast’s Bethany Cosentino lambasts Wasserman Music, citing Epstein connections

Bethany Cosentino, who performs as a solo artist and co-founded the band Best Coast, publicly criticized her booking agency, Wasserman Music. She did so because of the agency’s founder’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein and his associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of sex trafficking.

Casey Wasserman, who founded an agency and leads the committee organizing the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, appears in newly released documents from the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. It was already known that Wasserman and his then-wife, Laura, had flown on Epstein’s plane. However, these documents also reveal sexually suggestive messages exchanged between Wasserman and Ghislaine Maxwell, a close associate of Epstein currently in prison for her role in child sex trafficking.

Wasserman has issued a statement to the Hollywood Reporter expressing deep regret for emails exchanged with Ghislaine Maxwell over twenty years ago, before her crimes were known. He confirms he never had a personal or professional relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, but acknowledges traveling on Epstein’s plane in 2002 as part of a Clinton Foundation humanitarian delegation. He stated he is deeply sorry for any connection to either individual.

Actress Sarah Cosentino, who has been with the Wasserman agency since 2021, expressed her disappointment with her agency’s response to recent criticism, sharing a letter on social media. She stated that simply expressing regret isn’t sufficient and that accountability is needed, arguing that the response felt like damage control rather than a genuine attempt to address the issues.

Cosentino expressed frustration that individuals in a position of power within the industry – those who control opportunities, finances, and security – consistently receive leniency. She also stated that people are repeatedly asked to overlook or move on from harmful behavior, particularly when the perpetrator remains in control.

“This letter is my public refusal to accept that this is ‘just how things are,’” she continued.

Recently released documents related to Jeffrey Epstein include private emails between Casey Wasserman, who leads the LA28 Olympics committee, and Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted sex offender. Wasserman stated on Saturday that he regrets any connection to either of them, explaining the emails were sent before Maxwell’s crimes became public.

As a big fan, I was really surprised to hear about this drama! Apparently, Cosentino made it clear she’s loyal to her agent, not the agency Wasserman. She’s even asked them to take her and the band’s name off their website! She feels strongly that Casey Wasserman has created an impossible situation for his agents and is publicly calling for him to resign and for the company to change its name. It’s a pretty bold move, and I’m curious to see how it all plays out.

In their messages, Maxwell mentioned she’d think of Wasserman at odd times. Wasserman responded by saying she thought of Maxwell constantly and playfully asked what she could do to see Maxwell in a leather outfit, noting she was in New York while Maxwell wasn’t. She signed off with ‘Xoxo cw’.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn believes the recent issues surrounding LA28 leader Casey Wasserman are taking attention away from important matters.

Later, Wasserman suggested they begin at a familiar location, continue with a massage in her bed, and perhaps continue again the next morning, unsure when, if ever, they would stop. She then asked if he thought he could handle it, admitting the idea was exciting for her. She playfully offered to test certain massage techniques on him to see if they had the desired effect.

Wasserman Music is a prominent talent agency that works with popular artists such as Chappell Roan and Kendrick Lamar. However, the agency faced scrutiny in the past when Billie Eilish ended her representation due to reported allegations of sexual misconduct involving Wasserman personnel.

As a big Olympics fan, I’m hearing a lot of calls for Casey Wasserman to resign from his position on the Olympic committee. L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn was pretty direct, saying Wasserman’s continued involvement is a distraction from the athletes and all the hard work going into getting ready for the 2028 games. It seems like some local leaders feel a change in leadership is needed to really focus on the event and, more importantly, the people competing.
