Asa Elliott, known for his appearance on the ITV show Benidorm, has shared just how much money he continues to earn in royalties, a decade after being on the show.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m always asked where to catch up on great shows! Luckily, all seasons of this comedy are super accessible right now. You can find them streaming on platforms like ITVX, Netflix, and Disney+ – so there are plenty of options to enjoy it whenever you want. It’s perfect for a cozy night in!
I first met Asa, who’s 43, during the 2010 Christmas special of Benidorm, and I was so glad to see him become a more regular face! He was in a total of 13 episodes throughout seasons five and six – I really enjoyed watching his character develop.
Even though he was only in a handful of episodes, with limited screen time of just a few minutes, the singer continues to receive substantial income to this day.
He shared in a TikTok video: ‘Initially, when I began filming the show, my contract didn’t include any mention of receiving ongoing payments like repeat fees or royalties.’
Luckily, my agent back then was able to revise the contract. This happened when I got some scenes with additional lines and appeared in a few extra episodes.

‘And ever since then I’ve been receiving royalties every year.’
The actor said he doesn’t know when he’ll receive his payments, calling it a ‘mystery,’ but confirmed he consistently receives money from the show.
He continued, ‘It’s always somewhat unpredictable when they’ll show up, and I honestly have no clue what the final cost will be. It’s a bit of a guessing game!’
You know, last year I was pleasantly surprised to find two separate payments landed in my account. It was a total of two deposits – one for £81 and another for £98. It was a nice little boost, honestly!
I distinctly recall the first time I received royalties. I wasn’t expecting it at all, and I was thrilled to find £1,000 had been deposited into my bank account. It was a complete surprise and very much appreciated.
Honestly, ever since that time, it’s been around two or three hundred pounds annually for me. I really didn’t have a very big part in the show, though. I played just a quite small role, really. It was more about being a part of things than anything else, and even that meant a little something extra each year. It’s been consistently around that amount, which I’m grateful for, even with my limited involvement. You can find more details here if you’re curious!
It’s amazing to think about how much the lead actors earn annually. I’d really like to find out. I’m curious if any of them would be willing to share their salaries with me.
I seriously can’t believe how little he’s getting paid! Everyone’s talking about it, and honestly, I saw someone comment “Is that it?” and another said “You’d be able to buy a loaf of bread with that”! It’s just… shocking. I mean, he’s amazing, and that’s all he gets? It’s a total outrage, honestly!

I’m curious to know how much Jaqueline earned, especially since she appeared in every episode. I’m also wondering if there’s a limit to how much they pay.
Asa’s work stopped when the pandemic began, and in 2021, he shared that he had been a delivery driver for Asda to earn extra money while there were lockdowns.
Since then, work has picked up and the sitcom star is back performing on cruises.
In February 2022, the man from Manchester told Hull Live: ‘I found work delivering for my neighborhood store in Kingswood, and I also volunteered as a steward at local vaccination centers.‘
Okay, so I’m finally getting back to my cruises! It’s amazing, honestly. But it’s still a little chaotic, you know? Everything feels so last minute and unplanned because of all the travel rules changing *everywhere* in the world. It’s a bit stressful, but totally worth it to be back on the sea!
He explained: ‘Business improved when UK holiday parks reopened last year, and I was able to do some tours then. It was really positive, as I believe people were looking for that kind of experience.’
Asa landed the part in Benidorm because he was already working at the resort. The show’s writer, Derren Litten, noticed him there and asked him to try out for the role.
