Benidorm boss confirms ITV comeback talks 7 years after show axe

The manager of Benidorm, Derren Litten, has disclosed that discussions are underway with ITV regarding a potential return of the series.

For a decade spanning up to 2018, this popular sitcom unfolded over 74 episodes and 10 seasons, chronicling different vacationers who explored the vibrant Solana Resort in Spain, depicted in the series title, across various holiday periods.

For nearly seven years since its last episode, there has been much talk about a possible return. In the past few weeks, this chatter has intensified, and it was Litten himself who confirmed in a Facebook Live broadcast (as reported by The Sun) on Sunday that these rumors aren’t completely baseless.

Litten stated, “Every few years, there’s a rumor about Sherrie [Hewson’s character Joyce Temple-Savage], and Sherrie herself believes it because she’s optimistic, not spreading gossip. She’s hopeful because the show means as much to her as it does to me.

If I tell you that ITV hasn’t yet produced a new ‘Benidorm’ series, it simply means that as of now, there isn’t one. However, it’s also possible that they could commission a new series in the coming days or weeks.

As a gamer, I wanted to share some updates with you all. Here’s hoping this gives you a bit of optimism about where we’re heading, and it provides a glimpse into our current progress. Since then, I’ve been busy crafting new worlds in the form of ‘The Spa’ and ‘Scarborough’. Can’t wait to see how these stories unfold!

Previously, Hewson mentioned the potential for a comeback following Netflix’s success in streaming “Benidorm,” stating: “I believe that ‘Benidorm’ is more popular now than when it was originally airing on television. People frequently approach me and share, ‘I’m watching ‘Benidorm’ again.’

Ever since Benidorm has been consistently ranked among the top 10 shows on Netflix, I can’t help but marvel at its uniqueness. Frankly, there’s no other show quite like it on TV, is there? It’s reminiscent of the classic British comedy series Carry On, owing to its quirky and distinctively British humor that never fails to tickle my funny bone. Needless to say, we all had a blast during our time in Benidorm, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. In fact, if given the chance, I’d happily revisit this hilarious series. Why not take it one step further and bring Benidorm to the big screen?
