Netflix has confirmed the release date for The Twits, promising a “wild ride” for fans.
The enchanting animated series, modeled after Roald Dahl’s timeless figures Jim and Credenza Twit, will debut on various streaming platforms globally on October 17th – a premiere that signifies the initial screen adaptation of these characters from the 1980 novel.
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I can’t help but express my excitement for “The Twits,” a captivating animated adventure directed by the talented Phil Johnston, who also brought us “Ralph Breaks the Internet.” This imaginative tale boasts an impressive ensemble cast headed by the illustrious Natalie Portman and Emilia Clarke, known for her remarkable role in “Game of Thrones.” Can’t wait to see what magic they weave together!
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited to share that the talented comedian and Taskmaster/Benidorm star, Johnny Vegas, steps into the shoes of Mr. Twit! And guess who’ll be portraying his formidable counterpart, Mrs. Twit? None other than Margo Martindale from The Good Wife! This promises to be a fantastic adaptation, don’t you think?
As a gamer, I’d say: In the world of my latest game, I find myself immersed in the tale of the Twits – a duo known for their unparalleled meanness, foul odor, and general unpleasantness. They own an amusement park called Twitlandia, a place teeming with peril that’s as notorious as they are.
In the storyline, when the cunning Twits seize control of their town, two courageous kids and a band of enchanted Muggle-Wumps must learn to outsmart them in return, in an effort to protect the city.
The film, ‘The Twits,’ offers an uproariously humorous, thrilling journey filled with familiar pranks like Wormy Spaghetti and the Frightful Shrinks. This movie isn’t just a laugh riot; it’s also a tale that resonates today, exploring the constant struggle between cruelty and compassion.
The movie features three unique compositions penned by David Byrne, lead singer of Talking Heads, specifically created for this motion picture.
Hayley Williams, lead singer of Paramore, has collaborated on the final song titled ‘Open the Door’. She joins forces with Byrne to perform it.
In a statement, Williams expressed that being involved in this film feels like a series of surreal, pinch-me moments. As a child, his most beloved Roald Dahl book was “The Twits”.
I’m fascinated by exploring complex personalities such as Mr. and Mrs. Twit, along with the Wormwoods from “Matilda”. I found the creative approach taken by Phil and Daisy in reimagining the original story to be thrilling, and I was equally captivated by the unique animation style they used.
The Twits is released on Netflix Friday, 17 October.
