Benedict Cumberbatch’s underseen British movie premieres on TV tonight
This year, Benedict Cumberbatch may return to our screens in the film “The Roses“, sharing the screen with Olivia Colman. In case you can’t wait for more of Cumberbatch, here’s a movie that should satisfy your craving.
Under the guidance of director Will Sharpe, in collaboration with Simon Stephenson, the movie titled “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain” features Benedict Cumberbatch portraying the quirky artist Louis Wain, renowned for his whimsical cat drawings that often exhibited human-like characteristics.
This heartfelt and enchanting biographical film features Claire Foy portraying Emily Richardson, Wain’s wife, alongside Aimee Lou Wood, Toby Jones, Andrea Riseborough, Sophia Di Martino, and Olivia Colman who serves as the story’s narrator.
If you’re intrigued by the sound of it, I’m thrilled to share that “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain” makes its network debut tonight (January 15) at 9 pm, right here on Film4. Enjoy the show!
You don’t need to stress if you can’t catch the movie tonight or if you happen to miss it, because Channel 4’s streaming platform will make it available for viewing soon after it airs.
You can purchase “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain” for immediate viewing on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, or other digital retailers at the moment.
Prior to the theater premiere in 2022, Cumberbatch discussed with Digital Spy his deep respect for portraying real individuals, likening it to his characterization of Alan Turing in “The Imitation Game.
He noted that it’s rewarding to shine a spotlight on someone who hasn’t been in the limelight for some time, even though they were incredibly popular in their heyday.
In much the same vein, there’s an uncanny emotional resonance between their stories, specifically Alan Turing and the subject at hand. Instantly, I found myself deeply moved by some aspects of both figures.
In both of their lives, there is an abundance of joy, love, laughter, lightness, triumph, and contentment, yet there are also areas that can feel incredibly lonely, isolating, and heavy with sadness.
Tonight, January 15th, at 9pm, I’ll be tuning into Film4 to catch “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain”. If you miss it, don’t worry! It’ll also be available on Channel 4’s streaming service not long after it airs.
