As a big fan of those dark, atmospheric Scandi noir thrillers, I’m so excited to hear that Jo Nesbø’s Blood on Snow is getting adapted into a film! And even better, it’s coming to Sky in the UK with Benedict Cumberbatch and Aaron Taylor-Johnson starring – they’ve finally announced when we can expect it! Everyone says the book is amazing, so I can’t wait to see this brought to life.
The 2024 crime thriller features Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Olav, an assassin with a troubled conscience working in Oslo’s criminal scene. After refusing an order to kill his boss’s unfaithful wife, he becomes a target and is forced into an unexpected partnership as a violent gang war breaks out.
Benedict Cumberbatch took over the role after Tom Hardy left the project in 2025 and is expected to play the part of a competing gang leader known as the Fisherman. Eva Green, Emma Laird, and Ben Mendelsohn are also starring in the film.
Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, known for No Time to Die, and written by Jo Nesbø (who adapted his own 2014 novel of the same name with Ben Power), Blood on Snow is scheduled for release in UK cinemas in 2027.
In a press release, Andrew Orr, Sky’s Head of Original Film, expressed excitement about collaborating with acclaimed director Cary Joji Fukunaga, noting that this partnership will help Sky continue to deliver a wide range of new and original films.

Blood on Snow is released in UK cinemas in 2027.
