Benedict Cumberbatch will star in and help produce a new thriller called Last Flight, inspired by the true story of a humanitarian worker. According to Deadline, filming is scheduled to begin in May across locations in the UK, Jordan, and Morocco.
Benedict Cumberbatch will play Kirk W. Johnson, a former USAID coordinator who helped rebuild Fallujah, Iraq.
Following his service in Iraq, where he experienced PTSD, he started The List Project, a non-profit organization. He also collaborated with Senator Ted Kennedy to establish the Special Immigrant Visa program. Both initiatives aimed to help Iraqi and Afghan citizens who had assisted the US during the war to safely leave their countries and build new lives in the United States.

According to Deadline, Dave Bishop, CEO of Protagonist Pictures, described the film Last Flight as a thrilling and suspenseful movie with surprising emotional depth.
Filmmaker Babak Anvari, who is British-Iranian, explained that this story is very personal to him, drawing from his own experiences growing up in the region. His film, Last Flight, is a tense thriller focused on the difficult decisions people make under pressure and the resulting consequences.
I’ve been a fan of Benedict Cumberbatch for a long time, so I was thrilled to see him starring in this film. He has a unique ability to make every moment feel important and engaging.
The movie is being shown at the European Film Market this week, where companies are looking for films to distribute.
Cumberbatch also has another movie coming out soon: a dark and funny thriller called Wife & Dog, directed by Guy Ritchie.
It’s uncertain if the actor will reprise his role as Doctor Strange in Avengers: Doomsday, but he’s expected to play a major part in the upcoming Secret Wars movie.
Last Flight does not currently have a release date.
