Benedict Cumberbatch lands lead role in new Guy Ritchie movie
As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with over three decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the news about Benedict Cumberbatch joining Guy Ritchie’s new film “Wife & Dog” has sent my excitement meter skyrocketing!
Benedict Cumberbatch has landed a lead role in new Guy Ritchie movie Wife & Dog.
In the upcoming movie, which is among several new ventures for the director, Ritchie will revisit the vibrant, treacherous milieu of the British nobility – a realm previously delved into by him in both the film and television series titled “The Gentlemen”.
The specifics of the storyline remain undisclosed as per Deadline, however, it’s been confirmed that the film will feature Rosamund Pike from “The Wheel of Time” and Anthony Hopkins, known for his role in “Thor”, with Ritchie handling both writing and directing duties.
Lately, Ritchie has been keeping quite a pace. This year alone, he’s launched his popular Netflix series titled “The Gentlemen“, and also the film “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare ” featuring Henry Cavill, Eiza González, and Alan Ritchson on screen.
Moving forward, he will direct “In the Grey,” a film featuring Cavill, González, and Pike along with Jake Gyllenhaal, and also “Fountain of Youth” alongside John Krasinski and Natalie Portman.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super excited to share that I’ll be directing a new take on the Young Sherlock Holmes series, featuring Hero Fiennes Tiffin. This isn’t just your ordinary Sherlock tale; it’s an electrifying origin story, set to redefine the iconic detective for Prime Video. Can’t wait to dive in and bring this thrilling journey to life!
Currently, Benedict Cumberbatch has been seen in the Netflix show “Eric”, where he plays a troubled puppeteer on a quest to find his lost child.
The performer finds himself with a busy itinerary, and one of his forthcoming endeavors is a production titled The Roses. This is a modern adaptation of the 1989 film The War of the Roses, itself based on Warren Adler’s 1981 novel. The story revolves around a heated divorce dispute.
In the upcoming film, Olivia Colman stars alongside, with “Bombshell” director Jay Roach at the helm. The screenplay is penned by Tony McNamara from “Poor Things,” and both Colman and Cumberbatch are serving as producers for this production.
The movie “Wife & Dog” is set to start filming in February 2025, but the official release date hasn’t been decided yet. Meanwhile, you can watch “The Gentlemen” right now on Netflix.
