Benedict Cumberbatch confirms Doctor Strange is not in next Avengers movie
Benedict Cumberbatch has confirmed that Doctor Strange will not be in the next Avengers movie.
As a devoted fan, I recently witnessed my favorite actor grace our screens as the Marvel superhero in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” back in 2022. In an exciting turn of events, it appears that his character won’t be making an appearance in the Avengers franchise’s upcoming fifth movie, “Doomsday.”
“Is that a spoiler?” he asked Variety after the accidental announcement. “F**k it!”
Fortunately, fans needn’t worry, as the actor shared that although the character won’t fit this storyline, he will appear extensively in the sequel “Secret Wars”. In fact, there may even be hints of a future third “Doctor Strange” film.
He’s playing a key role in determining our future steps, he mentioned. They’re eager to brainstorm about our next move. Who would you choose to pen and direct the upcoming series? Which aspect of the comics do you prefer to delve into for Doctor Strange’s further development?
This role is quite intriguing, as it involves portraying a multifaceted individual. He’s a person of great complexity, with conflicting traits and inner turmoil, yet endowed with remarkable talents. Therefore, it offers ample opportunities for an engaging performance.
During the interview, Cumberbatch also reminisced about his response to Robert Downey Jr’s comeback in the Avengers, playing Doctor Doom this time, revealing a message he had sent to Marvel executive Kevin Feige regarding it.
As a gamer, I blurted out, “What in the world?!” followed by a quick correction, “Well, what in the world! I mean, well, what in the world.” I added with a chuckle.
Apart from Downey Jr and later Cumberbatch, I eagerly anticipate the comeback of Chris Evans in the Marvel universe, specifically the Avengers series. However, it remains uncertain if he will reprise his role as Steve Rogers.
As a gaming enthusiast, here’s my attempt: After wrapping up 2019’s epic journey with “Endgame”, Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of the Avengers series, have decided to return for more. They’ve been having secret chats with Marvel about what comes next, describing it as a new chapter rather than the end of the road.
The movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday” is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026. On the other hand, all four Avengers films can be streamed online via Disney+.
