There are doubts about the familial connection between actor Ben Affleck and Zac Affleck, who stars in The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

It was thought that the 52-year-old movie director, currently divorcing from Jennifer Lopez, along with his brother Casey Affleck, aged 49, might be second cousins to the actor known for their work on Hulu.

However, according to a recent report by People, it appears that there is no biological connection between them, as some enthusiastic fans have scrutinized their relationship more closely.

In September 2022, Zac’s spouse, Jen, initially announced their link on a TikTok post, which followed the wedding of Ben and JLo in Las Vegas.

In her post, it was written: ‘You assumed you would follow in JLO’s footsteps. However, not only did she take your name, but now you’re reclaiming yourself as Miss Rachel.’

In one of my recent TikTok posts this month, I subtly referenced my familial ties by titling it, “The Modern-Day Jenny from the Block.” This playful caption serves as a nod to the original iconic phrase while maintaining an authentic connection to my roots.

A source close to the situation said the alleged family tie ‘is absolutely not true.’

In their conversation with PEOPLE, they expressed that there isn’t any connection between us, and they also felt that it wasn’t quite right or fair in this situation.

The informant clarified, ‘Zac Affleck is Jen’s husband. His father is David Affleck, and his grandfather is Gordon Affleck. Zac’s great-grandfather, who would make them second cousins, goes by the name of Alan Burt Affleck.’

After that, Ben’s father is known as Tim Affleck. His grandpa is named Myron Junior, and his great-grandfather is called Myron Senior. I should clarify, Myron Senior and Alan Burt are not related in any way, such as being siblings.

Additionally, it is said that Zac’s family ancestry traces back to England, contrastingly, the ancestors of Ben and Casey Affleck hail from Scotland.

It’s possible that details regarding their claimed family relationship didn’t surface earlier due to Zac and Jen potentially feeling overwhelmed by their swift ascent into fame.

The individual expressed that it doesn’t seem like something they would enjoy, and I can guess – based on what I know about them – that they’re likely hoping this situation will resolve itself without any further complications.

A few days following her “Jenny from the Block” post on social media, Jennifer Lynn Affleck confessed that she has not actually encountered the actress known for Gone Girl.

‘Zac’s dad has [met Ben], when he was very little,’ Jennifer told PEOPLE.

She added, ‘I’m hoping to meet him one day too!’
