Ben Affleck’s Shocking Reason for Refusing to Buy His Son $6,000 Sneakers Despite $150M Fortune

In a new turn of events, Ben Affleck stood up for the financially challenged ‘nepotism kids’, following a wave of internet buzz about him declining to purchase a $6,000 pair of sneakers for his teenager son.

52-year-old me, being a diehard fan of my own acting career, let slip some fascinating tidbits about my approach to parenting during yesterday’s chat on Today with Jenna & Friends, as we delved into the topic of my teenage offspring and their employment.

Previously, he gained attention when a video featuring him was widely shared online, where he publicly reprimanded his 13-year-old son, Samuel, for requesting an expensive pair of Dior Air Force 1 sneakers.

In a chat show appearance, the actor known for portraying Batman, discussing his past marital issues with Jennifer Lopez, shared the reasons behind his decision not to purchase expensive items for his son, despite reportedly having a net worth of around $150 million.

Apart from his son Samuel, Affleck is also parents to Violet (aged 19) and Fin (aged 16), who he had with his former wife, Jennifer Garner.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, let me tell you, I recently came across someone who was raving about these sneakers to the tune of an eye-popping $6,000. My initial response? “My friend, are we talking about the same shoes here? What’s your plan, earning that kind of cash by mowing lawns? Seems like quite the investment for a pair of kicks!” I couldn’t help but jest about it in light-hearted amusement.

‘He was like, “We have the money.” I was like, “I have the money! You’re broke.”‘

Affleck emphasized again that he intends to provide them with everything, yet he feels that his kids should earn what they desire through their own efforts.

You deeply care about your children and wish to provide them with all they need and experience everything for them. However, I believe it might be detrimental to them if you don’t teach them the importance of earning things by working for them.

Then, the Gone Girl star explained that his two oldest kids are already working.

‘Yeah, my oldest two have jobs,’ he replied when guest co-host Andy Cohen brought up the topic.

Indeed, one recently secured employment, a typical teenage role involving work at a store – I’d rather not disclose the specifics. Meanwhile, my eldest is employed and actively seeking an internship for the upcoming summer.

He spoke further, discussing how his youngest child was now reaching an age where they were learning financial wisdom from their father.

‘And yeah, my son, who’s 13, he’s reckoning with that reality right now,’ Affleck said.

He doesn’t have any extravagant or pricey shoes in his wardrobe; instead, he only has regular shoes. (He added that there were shoes in his closet, but none of them were costly or fancy.)

I replied something like, ‘If you’re set on having that, you’d need to put in around 1,000 hours of work.’ That equates to minimum wage. After working 1,000 hours, you might find you don’t want to splurge on a new pair of sneakers.”

This version maintains the original meaning while using more natural and easy-to-read language.

Previously attended by the former Accountant actor, a memory resurfaced of a footwear education experience that took place in March during a father-son trip to a sneaker expo.

While the two sneakerheads were perusing through the space, a pair of shoes caught Samuel’s eye.

Meanwhile, Affleck was caught up by the price tag.

In the video, the actor playfully remarked to his son, “Wow, you have a lot of grass to cut here!” Affleck humorously suggested that his son liked the lawns merely because they were costly, but the teenager asserted, “No, they’re hard. I’ve always said they look great.

During the same month, Affleck upheld his choice at the premiere of The Accountant 2 at South by Southwest.

Or simply:

Affleck maintained his decision during the South by Southwest premiere of The Accountant 2 that very month.

He explained to Access Hollywood, “That’s the result when someone is asked to cut the grass.

Initially, they changed their mind about those expensive shoes, and he expressed surprise by saying, “But I’ve always maintained they were durable,” to which I responded, “Dude, you don’t need a thousand-dollar pair of shoes.” He countered with, “We have the funds for it,” to which I replied, “I can afford them too. You’re financially strapped.
