Ben Affleck’s Kids Hate One of His Most Famous Movies

Throughout his nearly four-decade career in the entertainment industry, Ben Affleck has been involved in more than 80 different projects, yet his teenage kids don’t always share his enthusiasm for his work.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, a 52-year-old man from Berkeley who was raised in Cambridge decided to share his 1998 film “Armageddon” with his children – Violet (age 19), Fin (age 16), and Samuel (age 13) – whom he co-parents with Jennifer Garner.

Straight away, he seemed taken aback and exclaimed something along the lines of, “Wait, what? What on earth is this? This is just ridiculous! You’ve got to be joking!” My son echoed his thoughts by saying, “I don’t understand it.” To which I responded, “This movie isn’t about logic; we didn’t consider that when creating it!

In a well-known performance, Affleck took on the role of A.J. Frost, an oil driller who becomes an astronaut in Michael Bay’s science fiction movie that cost $140 million to produce. Despite receiving poor critical feedback, it raked in a staggering $553.7 million at the worldwide box office.

The two-time Academy Award winner found himself anxious as his children and two 17-year-old stepchildren, Emme Muñiz and Max Muñiz (from his relationship with ex-wife Jennifer Lopez), decided to watch his latest film, The Accountant 2.

‘My kids they’re like very tough and they don’t censor their criticism,’ Ben explained.

‘They’ll be seated next to me as we watch a movie, yet they might express disapproval throughout by saying, “This is awful. I really mean it, this is awful. Why did you choose this?” You could hold your comments until the movie ends, if you understand what I mean.’

Affleck went on to say, “[However], they seemed to enjoy it. I was taken aback, saying, ‘Really? You enjoyed it?!’ They responded with a casual ‘Yes, it was.’ It was as if they were surprised that my efforts had somehow turned out well, like a fortunate stroke of luck or an unexpected magic trick had made what I did acceptable!

Critics have generally given The Accountant 2 a positive thumbs-up, with an impressive 79% approval rating based on 73 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

In a new turn of events, the founder of Artists Equity will be seen once again in the high-stakes role of autistic money launderer Christian Wolff, as portrayed in director Gavin O’Connor’s action-packed movie with an $80 million budget. This blockbuster is set to premiere in US and UK cinemas this coming Friday.

In addition to Ben Affleck, The Accountant 2 includes actors such as Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, J.K. Simmons, and Daniella Pineda.

In 2016, the initial release of “The Accountant” movie grossed an impressive $155.2 million worldwide, even with unfavorable critical responses.

At present, Ben is deeply engrossed in the filming process for his sixth directorial project titled “Animals,” an intense hostage drama produced by Netflix. In this production, he stars alongside Gillian Anderson, Kerry Washington, and Steven Yeun.

Additionally, Affleck was involved in the production of director Bill Condon’s remake of the $30 million West End musical “Kiss of the Spider Woman.” This film, set to premiere in US theaters on October 10, features his then-55-year-old ex-wife as one of its stars.
