While it’s not available on HBO Max in the US, viewers there can watch it on Hulu. The film features well-known actors including Adam Driver and Jodie Comer.

As a film buff, I was really thrilled to hear that The Last Duel is finding a new audience on streaming! It’s great to see a movie like that get some love, especially since it didn’t do so well in theaters originally. Honestly, with such a fantastic cast and generally positive reviews, I was surprised it only grossed around $30.5 million when it was released. It’s good to see it’s finally reaching more people now.

The movie received very positive reviews, earning an 85% score from critics and an 81% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, despite the good feedback, it didn’t perform well at the box office. With a production budget of $100 million, it would have needed to earn between $200 and $250 million just to cover its costs.

The film The Last Stand proved to be a financial loss for the studio when it was released in theaters. The Last Duel, on the other hand, is adapted from Eric Jager’s book, The Last Duel: A True Story of Crime, Scandal, and Trial by Combat in Medieval France. As the title indicates, the movie is set in medieval France and centers around a duel that arises from a claim of sexual assault.

In “The Last Duel,” Damon plays Jean de Carrouges, who challenges Jacques le Gris (played by Adam Driver) to a duel after Jacques is accused of assaulting Jean’s wife, Marguerite (played by Jodie Comer). Ben Affleck portrays Count Pierre d’Alençon, who is Jean’s superior. The film is a compelling crime thriller that explores the events surrounding the alleged assault from the perspectives of all three central characters.
