Ben Affleck is back with a new Dunkin’ Donuts Super Bowl commercial, and this year he’s joined by some popular stars from 90s television.
Ben Affleck, a well-known Dunkin’ enthusiast, is back in a new commercial for the coffee chain. This time, he’s joined by famous faces like Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, and Jason Alexander.
A sneak peek of the commercial came out on Sunday, revealing Ben Affleck, 53, seeking opinions from three celebrities about a TV pilot he filmed in 1995 that never aired.
The preview starts immediately after the three actors finish watching a project of Affleck’s – a recording marked ‘Network Pilot ’95 v3’.
The three legends are quiet as an unaware and jovial Affleck asks for their feedback.
He asks Aniston for her reactions and feelings, playfully urging her to share. She shakes her head, and he continues, saying the current trend is ‘cringe’ – and he’s experiencing a lot of it, calling it ‘golden cringe’.
Alexander said, clearly surprised, “I doubt he actually directed Argo,” questioning who was behind the award-winning movie.
Affleck presses on, saying, ‘I already told you I destroyed everything – I burned it and got rid of all the copies, right? Well, I wasn’t telling the truth.’
LeBlanc, on the other hand, was rather impressed by what he saw. ‘Can I get a copy?’ he asks.
‘No one,’ Aniston stresses with a tense tone, ‘No one can see this.’
‘Uhh yeah. It’s only going to air once,’ Affleck replies.
‘Still holds up!’ LeBlanc says.
‘Oh God, Matthew,’ an exasperated Aniston replies.
This latest ad is not Affleck’s first time starring in a Dunkin Super Bowl commercial.
In a series of memorable commercials, he’s teamed up with some big names. First, he formed the band ‘Dunkings’ alongside Matt Damon and Tom Brady, even appearing with his then-wife, Jennifer Lopez. The following year, he collaborated with his brother Casey Affleck, actor Jeremy Strong from the show Succession, and football coach Bill Belichick.
In 2023, Ben Affleck appeared in Dunkin’s first Super Bowl commercial, playfully surprising actual customers at the drive-thru. Jennifer Lopez also made an appearance in the ad.
According to CNN, Ben Affleck reportedly earned nearly $10 million for the 2023 advertisement, as of February 2024.
Although the large payment might appear substantial, someone with knowledge of the actor’s Dunkin’ Super Bowl ad shared that the company experienced its highest single-day donut sales ever the day after the commercial aired.
Dunkin’s 2023 ad campaign generated 7 billion media impressions and helped the company start the year strong, according to Dunkin’ President Scott Murphy, who shared this in January 2024.
Ben Affleck not only directed the commercial, but also helped come up with the idea and produce it. This marked the first time Dunkin’ Donuts aired a Super Bowl ad.
Dunkin’ started in 1948 as Open Kettle in Quincy, Massachusetts. It was later renamed Dunkin’ Donuts in 1950.
As a fellow Massachusetts resident, I can tell you this actor gets us. He was raised right here in Cambridge and, like so many of us, he’s been a Dunkin’ devotee for as long as he can remember. It’s just part of growing up around here!
After Dunkin’ Donuts expanded to the West Coast, opening its first Los Angeles location in 2014, Ben Affleck shared in a 2019 interview that he enjoys Dunkin’ every day.
Okay, seriously, Dunkin’ is just… everything! I go every single day, it’s a total habit. It’s kind of embarrassing, honestly, because people are always asking me where I get it from, like, ‘Is that a Dunkin’ nearby?’ It’s hilarious! I feel like I’m single-handedly making everyone aware of how amazing it is, you know? I’m basically a Dunkin’ ambassador at this point!
