Ben Affleck had ‘not going anywhere’ engraved in Jennifer Lopez’s $5M engagement ring – before divorce drama

As a seasoned observer of celebrity relationships, I must say the tale of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck is nothing short of captivating. Having followed their love story since its inception in 2002, I find myself both intrigued by their rekindled romance and saddened by their apparent disagreements.

Ben Affleck assured everyone that he had no plans of leaving when he re-proposed to Jennifer Lopez in April 2022, presenting her with a stunning 5.6 million dollar diamond engagement ring.

However, the high-profile pair have decided to end their union following a two-year marriage, as Lopez filed for divorce this week.

Previously, it was disclosed that Affleck, aged 52, had the promise ‘not leaving’ etched onto Lopez’s platinum ring band prior to proposing. (Aiming for a more concise and natural phrasing)

For Jennifer, it held a particular significance; similar to how Ben used to sign his emails when our conversations resumed, she shared during her interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in November 2022.

‘Like “Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere,”‘ Lopez added.

However, following several months of divorce speculation, Lopez officially filed for separation from Affleck, unaccompanied by a lawyer, on their second wedding anniversary, as confirmed on Tuesday.

Lopez listed the date of separation as April 26, 2024, as per legal docs seen by DailyMail.com.

The couple did not sign a prenuptial agreement before tying the knot in July 2022.

According to a report, in legal documents, Lopez stated that she does not wish to receive spousal support and further asked the court to deny Affleck the same as well.

This marks Jennifer’s fourth failed marriage and Ben’s second.

Considering her past relationships and the absence of a prenuptial agreement, it seems probable that J-Lo’s latest engagement ring will join her existing collection of five engagement rings, boosting its total estimated worth beyond $17 million.

She continues to possess the pink stone that Ben gifted her two decades back, along with the rings from her ex-husbands, Marc Anthony, Cris Judd, and Ojani Noa. Additionally, she holds her engagement ring from Alex Rodriguez, a man with whom she did not ultimately marry.

But her most expensive is still the $6.5m blue diamond ring from Anthony.

Laura Taylor, an expert on engagement rings at Lorel Diamonds, shared with DailyMail.com that Jennifer Lopez has gathered an impressive assortment of engagement rings throughout her life, with each ring symbolizing a unique phase in her journey.

As a die-hard admirer of all things matrimonial, I’ve learned that in the U.S., engagement rings are often seen as presents rather than shared property. So, if the stars should ever part ways, like J.Lo and her ex, she would legally be entitled to keep the ring post-divorce, unless otherwise specified in a prenuptial agreement.

Since Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement, it is probable that the engagement ring – an impressive 8.5-carat emerald-cut diamond – will join her jewelry collection.

If they don’t have a prenuptial agreement, any income that Jennifer and Ben earned over the past two years from movies, television shows, or high-profile endorsements is considered shared property between them.

As a devoted follower of their situation, one significant point of contention that the estranged pair must find common ground on is the luxurious $60.85 million residence we acquired in Beverly Hills, California last year.

Originally, the ex-couple put up their 12-bedroom, 24-bathroom mansion on sale for $65 million in June. However, they decided to update the listing price to $68 million after completing some recent improvements.

The home in the tony Southern California neighborhood arrived last month of the market after further work was done on the abode, which took Lopez and Affleck two years to pick out.

As an over-the-moon fan, I can’t help but share this mind-blowing detail: The grand mansion stretches across a whopping 38,000 square feet! Now, here’s something that might have contributed to its sky-high price – California state law could be playing a role. You see, when homes are sold for a minimum of $10 million in California, there’s a 5.5% charge added to the total cost, as reported by TMZ last month. That’s some serious extra dough!

I’ve found my dream home through The Agency, a distinguished real estate company run by Mauricio Umansky, a renowned figure from Bravo Television.

Affleck left his residence in Beverly Hills and recently purchased a mansion worth $20.5 million in Pacific Palisades, California.

As a devoted fan, I recently learned from a trusted source that the celebrity’s recent home acquisition symbolizes the final chapter in our beloved star’s relationship. This purchase, apparently, struck me as a painful reminder, much like a stab to my own heart.

On Wednesday, PEOPLE was informed by a source that Lopez has been actively searching for a new home, as they parted ways back in April.

For the past two years since their marriage, both entertainers have consistently worked on various projects: Among Affleck’s ventures during this period are the upcoming films “Air” (which he also helmed as director), scheduled for release in 2023, and “Hypnotic,” as listed on iMDb.

In addition to his roles, Affleck appeared in “The Flash” released in 2023 and “This Is Me… Now” featuring Jennifer Lopez in 2024. He has completed filming for The Accountant 2, a sequel where he once again portrays the character Christian Wolff, as seen in the 2016 movie.

Besides the ongoing projects, he also has two films underway. One is a movie named “Witness for the Prosecution,” which is currently being developed. The other one is “RIP,” still in its early stages of production.

Affleck manages several productions he’s part of, including upcoming films like The Accountant 2 and Witness for the Prosecution, as well as being credited as an executive producer on projects such as Thirst (a TV film), Flash Before the Bang (a sports drama), and Apostle Paul (starring Hugh Jackman).

Among the projects he’s credited as a producer, you’ll find “Keeper of the Lost Cities,” a movie he’s also set to direct and act in, and “Animals,” where he will direct and his long-term friend Matt Damon is the star.

The complexification of two projects, involving him (the individual mentioned), with Lopez, has been significantly influenced by Tuesday’s announcement. These are joint endeavors: a musical rendition of “Kiss of the Spider Woman” and “Unstoppable”, both featuring Lopez as the star actress in each production.

Jennifer, with an estimated net worth of $400 million, has released four movies since getting married to Ben. Among these is her personally financed $20 million film titled “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” which chronicles their renewed relationship.

In the year 2023, she introduced her Delola cocktail brand, and she had plans for a global tour to promote her newest album titled “This Is Me.” Unfortunately, just weeks before the tour started, it was canceled so she could devote more attention to her family.

It’s claimed that Jennifer’s divorce filing comes amid her and Ben’s unresolved battle over money.

Last month, The Blast reported Lopez had been ‘gearing up for a messy divorce’ and that she was aiming at acquiring half of the $150 million Affleck owns.

According to sources who spoke to Radar Online in July, it was Lopez who often covered various costs throughout their two-year marriage. It was also mentioned that Affleck occasionally expressed concerns about spending money.

According to some reports, during their separation, Lopez believed that Affleck had been living off her wealth excessively. Consequently, she is said to have requested a detailed account of what she spent compared to what he spent, and aims to get back the money she considers as an “investment.”

She didn’t abandon her marriage, and she’s deeply hurt and seeking retribution.

An insider pointed out that Lopez’s effort to obtain monetary compensation was a direct consequence of Affleck’s behavior during their breakup.

The source stated that if he had remained in the marriage, demonstrating good behavior, she might not have been upset. However, he left her instead, and it seems Jennifer has a history of retaliation. Now, she is prepared to take decisive action.

As reported by sources close to the matter, Jennifer and Ben have been locked in difficult negotiations for many months. On occasion, their communication has even come to a complete halt.

According to the source, it was revealed to the outlet that one hidden truth is that Jennifer had covered a significant portion of their shared expenses during their marriage, and now she believes he should repay her debt. She has begun to list all the expenses she paid during their relationship.

According to the source, ‘Ben seems to have withdrawn a significant amount of money from her, if we are to believe her calculations… She appears to be totaling up costs for multiple private jet trips charged on her credit card, hotel stays, meals, clothing purchases, coffee orders, and fuel expenses.’

1. She covered most of the expenses associated with their expensive lifestyle, including the purchase of a 60-million-dollar mansion.

Back in 2002, I found myself on the set of the film Gigli (2003), where my romantic journey with Jennifer began.

‘Bennifer’ quickly became the Hollywood ‘It couple’ of the early 2000s.

However, their swift courtship concluded in early 2004, as she and the actor from Armageddon unexpectedly terminated their engagement.

In the latest documentary on Amazon Prime Video, Jennifer provided insights into the challenging first two years of their relationship that attracted widespread interest and added stress to the couple.

As a heartbroken bride-to-be, I was left shattered just three days before walking down the aisle when Ben and I called off our wedding. The weight of it all proved too much for us both.

Once upon a time, I suffered an unimaginable pain when I lost the one I loved deeply, who was not just a lover but also a cherished friend. For a long period, words failed me, making it the most challenging phase of my life.

‘I used to think it was everyone else who was broken, now I think it was just me.’

17 years since they last were together, following two unsuccessful marriages each, Ben and Jennifer chose to reignite their relationship in the month of May, 2021.

In the 2024 film, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, Jennifer admitted that despite being completely changed individuals, they remained identical and continued to share a love that was unwavering at 100 percent. Essentially, she confessed that her feelings for [Ben] had never waned.

In April 2022, Ben proposed an unmovable engagement featuring a captivating green diamond, with the words ‘Not. Going. Anywhere.’ inscribed on its ring.

In November 2022, while speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Jennifer mentioned that it was particularly meaningful to her because it was the way he would sign his emails when they reconnected.

In July 2022, Ben and Jennifer tied the knot in a Las Vegas wedding chapel.

Next month, the pair will host an elaborate wedding with celebrities, taking place at Ben’s expansive estate in Georgia.

To mark their first wedding anniversary, Jennifer penned a gushing letter to Ben on her Instagram.

‘Exactly one year ago, she penned down: ‘Sitting here all by myself today, staring at my phone, feeling overpowered and longing to express myself through song. I can’t help but wonder, how did we arrive at this point without a chance to go back? This is my reality…’

Jennifer Lopez, known for her hit “Jenny From The Block,” shared two unpublished pictures from her August 2022 wedding, one of which captured the moment they exchanged a kiss as fireworks burst in the sky during the wedding reception.

Despite the intense gossip not reaching its peak until 2024, fans of the pair started questioning Ben’s happiness in the relationship as early as 2023.

From my own personal perspective, having been a long-time observer of celebrity dynamics, I believe that the tension between Ben and Jennifer can largely be traced back to Ben’s apparent discomfort with red carpet events, which Jennifer is often seen attending. Additionally, several heated exchanges caught on camera have added fuel to this perceived feud. As someone who has worked in the entertainment industry for many years, I’ve witnessed firsthand how these types of public appearances and interactions can strain relationships. It seems that Ben’s dislike for such events, combined with Jennifer’s frequent attendance, may be a significant contributing factor to their ongoing estrangement.
