More than five years after the COVID-19 pandemic drastically altered the world, the 19-year-old activist emphasized how important masks and other safety measures still are.
Violet was appearing as part of an event titled Healthy Indoor Air: A Global Call to Action.
Violet said that it was essential to remain wearing masks to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Violet stated that failing to protect children, and then admitting it to them, is a severe form of neglect.
Violet observed that many people today aren’t taking enough responsibility as they quickly return to normal life, despite the months everyone spent isolated during the recent pandemic five years ago.
Violet explained to the audience that the push to return to normal life for adults has involved overlooking, minimizing, and hiding the fact that the virus spreads through the air and that Long COVID poses a significant risk. This approach, she said, has been a series of deliberate decisions.
Violet expressed concern that current generations are losing opportunities, stating that young people haven’t had a genuine say in the decisions affecting their future and haven’t been fully informed about those choices.
