Below Deck is famous for showing all the exciting drama that happens on board its luxurious yachts, focusing on the interactions between the guests and the crew.
As a longtime fan, I’ve seen it all – the drama just keeps coming! Every season brings something new, whether it’s legal trouble, rumors about relationships, or someone losing their job. Honestly, you never know what’s going to happen next, and that’s part of what keeps me hooked.
As with every season of Below Deck Mediterranean, season 10 is proving to be no exception. Chief Stew Aesha Scott, 33, notes that there’s always at least one guest who doesn’t follow the rules while onboard the yacht.
The New Zealander explained to the Daily Mail that every season of the show usually has at least one guest who gets excessively drunk and deliberately tries to cause trouble and break the rules.
Honestly, I’m at a point where I feel amazing, like I’ve really figured things out. It’s like everyone else just doesn’t *get* it, and I’ve completely stopped caring about what they think or say. I just tune out all the negativity, you know?

The superyacht industry often operates under the idea that the customer is always right, meaning you’re expected to agree to everything. However, that’s not realistic. The key is learning how to politely and effectively decline requests when necessary.
Scott, jokingly referring to herself as the onboard ‘security guard’ since the yacht doesn’t have dedicated security personnel, explained that there are no set limits on how much alcohol charter guests can drink at any given time.
She admitted with a laugh that she tends to make strong drinks, figuring the faster people get sleepy, the sooner they’ll head to bed.
However, if someone becomes severely intoxicated – to the point where they can’t even stand – I won’t continue serving them. You have to assess each situation individually and use your best judgment.
A dramatic incident occurred during season 12 of Below Deck this summer when a charter guest was arrested for swimming in the ocean without a life jacket. The guest then reportedly had a drunken outburst and yelled at the crew.
Because the Below Deck franchise—including shows like Below Deck Under and Sailing Yacht—is known for being unusually authentic, according to Scott, it operates differently than highly produced shows like The Bachelor. It doesn’t follow the same strict rules.
After a sexual misconduct incident on the set of Bachelor in Paradise in 2017 – which involved excessive alcohol consumption – production implemented a rule limiting cast members to two drinks per hour. Filming was temporarily stopped while the situation was investigated internally.

Following a short pause and an investigation that found no evidence of wrongdoing, filming resumed without DeMario Jackson and Corrine Olympios, and with stricter rules about alcohol on set.
Scott emphasizes that, even with guest safety as the top priority, Below Deck offers viewers a glimpse into ‘very genuine, real-life moments.’
Scott, reflecting on season 10, said that each charter brought unexpected and wild events. He believes the season will captivate viewers from beginning to end, attributing the compelling storyline to a bit of luck and good fortune.
This season isn’t just about casual relationships or negativity. There’s a lot going on, and I think viewers will find something they can connect with at some point.
According to Scott, the latest season of Below Deck is the best one yet! It features Chief Stew alongside Captain Sandy Yawn, deckhand Max Salvador, bosun Nathan Gallagher, and newcomers Chef Josh Bingham, deckhands Christian Trimino and Tessa Budd, and stews Kizzi Kitchener and Victoria SanJuan.
Scott expressed his strong affection for Captain Yandy Sawn, saying he wished people got to see her playful and fun-loving side more often, as she definitely has one.
I genuinely enjoy my job. I especially love working with my colleague because she trusts me to handle things independently and doesn’t hover or ignore my contributions.
She went on to say that whenever she has even a short break – even just a few minutes – her first instinct is to find her daughter, either on the bridge or in a cabin, and spend time laughing together.

She’s a strong and just leader, and the story often focuses on her addressing issues with her crew. However, most of the time, she comes across as playful and lighthearted.
The colleagues are very close, and Captain Sandy and her wife, Leah Rae Yawn, have been invited to Scott’s wedding in March 2026. Scott will be marrying his fiancé, Scott Dobson.
The wedding will be held in her New Zealand hometown, and they’re planning a menu featuring plenty of her favorite Thai dishes, like curries and noodles.
