Beloved Triple J star appears to confirm he has quit after six years with the station in shock social media post

Popular Australian comedian Dave Woodhead has strongly hinted that he’ll leave Triple J in 2026, after six years working with the station.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! My absolute favorite radio guy just posted the cutest thing on social media yesterday. It was a picture of his to-do list for the year, and he hinted at something big! He didn’t exactly say it, but he dropped this little clue… I’m seriously losing it right now, I need to know what he’s planning!

The ideas discussed included making the 2026 Hottest 100 the most popular yet, organizing a telethon, and arranging a meeting with Delta Goodrem.

His final comment caused surprise, as he seemed to be announcing he wouldn’t be back in 2027, essentially telling people to look for someone else for the job.

Dave announced he’s returning to Triple J Lunch tomorrow from 12-3 PM, promising a major show with a big announcement and hinting at exciting things coming in 2026.

Shocked listeners quickly took to Reddit to discuss the bombshell announcement.

Someone commented that at least he provided a full year’s notice. They described him as consistently enjoyable and funny, with a touch of playful chaos, and genuinely passionate about music.

Someone else commented that six years is a significant amount of time, expressing hope for a strong final year and wishing him well.

‘Shame. Definitely one of the better presenters,’ another chimed in.

The experienced comedian is known for connecting with audiences through playful conversation and funny songs.

This follows a difficult announcement from Bryce Mills, a former Triple J presenter, in December. It came a year after he left the station.

In June 2024, Bryce left his job hosting the Triple J breakfast show, explaining that he was experiencing burnout and needed to focus on his mental health.

After a seven-month break from Instagram, Bryce shared that he’s been working through some difficult personal problems.

Bryce started a lengthy post on a positive note, sharing that the symptoms of burnout he’d been experiencing had improved since he left his job at Triple J.

He wrote that it had been a year since he left his stable and secure radio job, a move he knew would be a big risk.

After a few months, I started to feel creative again, and the strange physical symptoms I’d been experiencing – like random eye twitches and dizziness – began to disappear.

Bryce shared that he was feeling creatively inspired again, now that he’d returned to a documentary he’d begun in 2024.

He said he completed the documentary and uploaded it to YouTube in May, hoping to feel creatively fulfilled and figure out his next move as a freelancer.
