Beloved Sydney Executive Dies at 45 After Husband’s Cancer Diagnosis Shocker

Heartfelt tributes are flowing for the cherished Sydney marketing professional, Paola Cracknell, following her unexpected passing. The news has left friends and coworkers deeply saddened.

Paola’s passing was announced via a statement on her Instagram account on April 4.

Despite how challenging it is for us to convey this news, there’s no denying the influence P had on us. With great sorrow, we must inform you that our cherished friend, our dear girl, has left us behind.

Anyone familiar with Paola would recognize her uniqueness – a remarkable individual whose kindness transcended description. As we navigate our sorrow, we kindly request patience as we work through our grief, taking time to heal.

Friends and family have arranged a tribute to celebrate her life, with a memorial service taking place in Sydney on Tuesday, April 15th. The ceremony will be held at the Centennial Homestead in Centennial Park, starting at 10am and lasting until 12pm.

A follow-up post stated: ‘It’s our heartfelt wish that you’d be part of celebrating and commemorating the memory of our cherished Paola – a person overflowing with affection, radiance, and cheerfulness.’

In an emotional Instagram post, Govind Sandhu, the former spouse of Paola, who is known for his work in music, honored her by showcasing a collection of cherished memories from their eight-year relationship.

Dear beloved P, we’re all crushed, shocked, and finding it hard to accept the reality. This sorrow and grief we’re experiencing is unlike anything we’ve felt before,” he started.

“You’ll forever remain unsurpassed, standing atop my personal mountain and sharing an inseparable bond with me. Over eight years as companions and five years as a married couple, we’ve forged some of the most extraordinary shared experiences.” (Informal)

He characterized their connection as one brimming with joy, exploration, and imagination: “For many years, we’ve traveled the globe, lived, commuted, and even shared meals during work hours. These moments hold my dearest memories of happiness.

Even though Govind and his partner had separated prior to his stage-four Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma diagnosis, he shared that they stayed connected and provided mutual support throughout the ordeal.

Despite our parting prior to my diagnosis, you’ve continued to stand by me as a steadfast supporter. Your presence has been unwavering throughout my challenges, and I can’t express enough how much your support has meant to me.

Speaking directly, I must express my heartfelt gratitude. In 2020, you were my unwavering pillar as we together grappled with the loss of my dear father. I deeply regret that my illness added to your burden. Knowing how much it affected you, I’m truly sorry.

‘You were unlike anyone else, leaving an indelible mark on the world and those fortunate enough to know you. Your absence will be felt deeply and eternally by all. I vow to remember and honor you for as long as I live… My love for you is immeasurable, rest in peace our cherished one, P.’

The news of Paola’s passing has created ripples across the creative and media sectors worldwide, as her extensive and illustrious career garnered widespread respect.

Based on her LinkedIn information, her most recent positions were at INVNT Group, where she served as the Senior Director of Marketing for INVNT.ATOM and the Director of Strategic Partnerships – APAC region. Before that, she was in charge of culture partnerships for Red Bull in Austria and held the position of Head of Client Service at media agency Initiative.

From January 2006 until May 2010, she served as the head producer and primary talent recruiter for The Kyle and Jackie O radio program.

Danielle Cox, a former friend of mine, penned a heartfelt message looking back at their early days: ‘You were my first roommate when we both moved to Sydney at 19! One of my earliest friends in this new city, and later colleagues too… We spent many late nights out and attended live concerts together. You always cheered me on from the sidelines just like you always did for others.’

She went on to say, “I intended to give you a call and I’m sorry it didn’t happen. I thought we had plenty of time. You are deeply cherished and greatly respected, P.

The memorial service for Paola will be held at the Wisteria Room, located within Centennial Homestead. We invite everyone to come with cherished photographs and anecdotes about her, which we’ll collectively add to a commemorative scrapbook.
