Beloved Green Lantern Hero’s Return to Action Teased by DC

DC’s recent Next Level initiative has breathed new life into many of its classic heroes and allowed the company to revisit characters that had been largely forgotten. A sneak peek at the upcoming Green Lantern Corps comic reveals what happened to a fan-favorite character and hints at their comeback – though it might not be the return everyone expected.

A sneak peek at Green Lantern Corps #15 reveals an upcoming fight with Parallax, the embodiment of fear. Written by Morgan Hampton and illustrated by Fernando Pasarin and Oclair Albert, the preview shows John Stewart continuing his pursuit of Parallax, which he discovered possessing the body of Soranik Natu, a former Green Lantern who once joined the Sinestro Corps.

Stewart intentionally provoked Parallax, allowing it to take him over, and the issue concluded with the fear entity fully in control. Now, in a preview of Green Lantern Corps #15, Soranik Natu has regained control and is preparing for battle. She teams up with Katma Tui, Stewart’s girlfriend, to collect weapons, including a ring that fans will recognize.

Who is Green Lantern Corps’ Soranik Natu?

Soranik Natu first appeared in Green Lantern Corps: Recharge #1 as a doctor from the alien world of Korugar. She didn’t initially want to join the Green Lantern Corps, because the people of her planet generally disliked and distrusted them. This was largely due to the history of Sinestro, a former Green Lantern who had used his power to oppress the people of Korugar.

Sinestro unexpectedly played a large role in Natu’s life. During the Sinestro Corps Wars, he deliberately lost a fight to her on Korguar, making it seem like she had defeated him. This act allowed her to earn back the trust of her people and convince them to support the Green Lantern Corps. Later, Natu discovered the reason behind his actions: Sinestro was her birth father, and he had given her up for adoption to protect her.

I remember when Soranik finally faced Sinestro. He ended up making her a messenger between his Yellow Lanterns and the Green Lanterns, and eventually, he even gave her a Yellow Power Ring! After everyone thought Sinestro was gone, she actually took charge of the Sinestro Corps. Surprisingly, she tried to change them, turning them into a force for peace when the Green Lanterns disappeared for a while. When the Green Lanterns came back, she desperately tried to create a lasting peace between our two groups.

The plan failed because of Sarko, a villain from the future who wanted to eliminate the Green Lanterns. After Sarko’s death, Soranik discovered he was her son with Kyle Rayner, a former romantic partner. When she found out Kyle knew this but hadn’t told her, she broke off their partnership and moved the Sinestro Corps away from Oa.

Until recently, Soranik’s fate was unknown. She stopped leading the Sinestro Corps, but kept her Power Ring. Now, the mystery is how she ended up controlled by Parallax, and whether she’ll eventually help her old teammates in the Green Lantern Corps.

Green Lantern Corps #15 arrives in comic shops everywhere on April 8, 2026.
