What to Read Next

The new season takes place a few years later, in 1945, as the effects of World War II begin to fade.

Now that peace seems possible, people are hopeful for a better future, filled with societal improvements and new technologies.

Many animals still need our help, and people are also dealing with their own personal challenges.

One of the storylines involves Tristan coming home from war with hidden emotional wounds he’s avoiding confronting.

In a recent episode featuring Tristan and Siegfried, Siegfried was frustrated with Tristan for not having the war experience he expected. According to Woodhouse, this was because Tristan spent more time drinking and hadn’t witnessed the truly awful things that war can expose people to, as reported by Radio Times.

Things are definitely better now… He’s experienced a lot of terrible hardship and witnessed awful events.

Throughout the series, he attempts to hide his struggles and maintain a facade of normalcy, presenting himself as the familiar Tristan everyone expects. However, subtle clues gradually reveal that he’s actually not doing well.

Critics loved seasons 2, 3, and 4, giving them all perfect scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Now, the question is whether season 6 will be just as well-received.

All Creatures Great and Small season 6 is airing Thursdays at 9pm on 5.
