BBC star Owain Wyn Evans has updated fans after missing a few shows for health reasons.
The presenter of *The One Show* and Radio 2 announced on Instagram that he had surgery to remove some abnormal growths and thanked the National Health Service for their excellent care.
So, I recently had to share a bit of a personal update with everyone. I posted a couple of pics – one taken while I was actually *in* the hospital, and another one of me chilling at home, recovering with a warm drink and my cat, Franny, keeping me company. It was a rough patch, but I’m on the mend!

“Our NHS is amazing,” Evans began in the caption.
I recently had my gallbladder removed after doctors found some concerning polyps. Thankfully, I’m recovering well! I’m incredibly grateful to the amazing staff at West Ward 6 and the surgical team at Llandough Hospital.

I was relieved to hear that Hugh Evans is prioritizing his recovery and won’t be rushing back to work. It’s so good to know he’s getting the care he needs from Franny and his husband, Arran Rees. He deserves a proper break!
Evans shared that they’re taking some time off work to recover and are being well looked after by Nurse Franny and Dr. Arran, who is providing excellent care even though they aren’t traditionally a medical doctor.
The broadcaster then talked about his family’s experiences with the NHS, explaining how it provided vital support when both of his parents were seriously ill.
I’m a huge supporter of the NHS, and I honestly don’t know where my family would be without it. They’ve been incredible, especially with my dad’s long-term cancer treatment and helping my mum manage her MS. It actually saved my husband Arran’s life when he was a little kid, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
“Thank goodness we have it xx,” he concluded.

Evans’ announcement received many supportive messages from other celebrities, such as radio personality Zoe Ball, who wished him a speedy recovery with a message saying, “heal well darling chap x”.
Dianne Buswell from *Strictly Come Dancing* sent her well wishes, writing “Sending love my darling.” Dr. Ranj and *Doctor Who* boss Russell T Davies also shared messages of support, with Dr. Ranj saying “Get well soon love x” and Davies writing “Oh get well! Much love.”
Evans’ friend OJ Borg complimented his appearance even while he was in the hospital, writing, “You still look amazing in a hospital gown! Get well soon!”
Others sending Evans sweet messages include Love Island and Strictly Tasha Ghouri and Paddy McGuinness.
