Stephen Graham is a highly acclaimed actor with an impressive body of work, including roles in films like This Is England, Boiling Point, and Rocketman, as well as popular TV series such as Line of Duty and Peaky Blinders. He’s now being recognized for his consistently outstanding performances.
This week, the celebrated actor was made a Companion of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) by local legend Sir Paul McCartney at a special ceremony.
I was so excited to be at the event celebrating the Institute’s 30th anniversary! It was amazing to see Cathy Tyson – you might know her from Black Ops and Dune: Prophecy – and Tom Fletcher, the lead singer of McFly, get recognized for their contributions too. What a night!
According to LIPA’s Principal and CEO, Professor Sean McNamara, this year’s graduation ceremony marks a significant achievement for the school.
Today marks a special milestone – our 30th anniversary and the very first graduating class from LIPA! It’s a day to celebrate all that we’ve achieved through imagination and working together.

Following on from the success of Adolescence, Graham announced a different kind of project.
Letters to Our Sons is a collection of letters written by fathers from across the globe to their sons, exploring different perspectives on what it means to be a man and aiming to encourage a discussion about healthy masculinity.
I’m so excited about this project because so many of the dads I admire are involved! Seriously, it’s got everyone from actors like Danny Dyer, Javier Bardem, and Riz Ahmed, to athletes like Tom Daley, Chris Kamara, and Jamie Redknapp. And it doesn’t stop there – Jack Thorne, Romesh Ranganathan, Jeff Brazier, Goldie, Matthew Burton from Educating Yorkshire, and even Louis Theroux are all part of it. It’s an incredible lineup!
The new product will launch in September, and we’re planning live events in both London and Liverpool during its first week.
