Bella Ramsey has opened up about their “freeing” autism diagnosis.
In the course of shooting the TV series “The Last of Us”, the show’s star, who has publicly discussed their genderfluid identity, revealed that they received a diagnosis. This happened when one of the crew members picked up on certain indicators and brought it to their attention.
In simpler terms, Ramsey shared with Vogue that they have been observing and picking up skills from others throughout their life, especially when it comes to socializing and interacting with people. They mentioned that this self-taught approach has greatly benefited their acting career. Additionally, Ramsey expressed curiosity about whether they might fall on the autism spectrum.
The actor shared that receiving a diagnosis as a young adult brought a sense of liberation, expressing: “It allows me to navigate the world with greater compassion for myself, understanding that I may struggle with tasks others find effortless.
Many admirers commended the celebrity after the heartfelt interview, with one posting on Instagram: “Sharing about their autism and gender identity carries equal weight. I hold them in high regard, and their courage has aided me in accepting myself better as an individual.

Approximately a month following their casting in the teen drama-comedy ‘Sunny Dancer’ alongside other well-known actors, Ramsey openly discussed their autism with the public.
Ramsey is set to star alongside actors such as James Norton, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jessica Gunning from “Baby Reindeer” in this upcoming film.
In the upcoming season 2 of “The Last of Us,” the star is set to reappear on our screens starting from April 13.
The show “The Last of Us” broadcasts in the United States on HBO, while in the UK it can be found on Sky Atlantic and the streaming platform NOW. The second season commences on April 13th.
