On Instagram, a humorous post featuring a well-known 41-year-old journalist shows him in his work environment, surrounded by stylists just as a program was ready to go live.

Simultaneously, another artist behind the scenes tinkers with Edwina’s outfit, comprising a green blouse with voluminous sleeves and a black skirt.

After sharing a heartfelt update about her devastating cancer diagnosis and how it affects her everyday life, the Seven star follows up.

In September, Edwina surprised her audience by disclosing live on air that she’d been diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), which is a form of cancer affecting the blood and bone marrow.

On a Thursday, Edwina went to Marie Claire’s International Women’s Day gathering in Sydney and talked about her health experience with the attendees.

Edwina shared, “I was lucky because I learned about it a month ahead, allowing me to prepare. I went through this situation, thankfully, without enduring the ordeal of chemotherapy.

[The cancer] served as an eye-opening experience, helping me appreciate the important aspects of life. It spared me from undergoing a deeply immersive ordeal where cancer consumed my existence.

Edwina expressed her heartfelt gratitude as her symptoms permitted a normal course for her everyday activities.

She mentioned that she had a consultation with her expert recently, but unfortunately, she forgot to schedule her blood test afterwards. Therefore, it’s not something she’s currently focusing on at the moment.

I’m acutely aware of how fortunate I am to carry on somewhat normally, without having to explain any changes to my children since I appear the same. This experience has led me to reassess and deliberately pace myself.

Edwina has a relatively gentle type of leukemia, which typically allows for management strategies that do not involve chemotherapy and help her avoid the more intense symptoms associated with the condition.

As a lifestyle aficionado, I’m delighted to mention that my partner, Neil Varcoe, and I are proud parents to two vibrant little ones – Molly, aged five, and Tom, who turns three soon.

In September, Edwina publicly shared during a broadcast that she had received a cancer diagnosis, which prompted her to become emotional.

‘I have been diagnosed with cancer. That’s a shock and hard to say,’ she told viewers.

This condition is quite beneficial to know about as it’s called Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Fortunately, there’s a daily pill available for treatment. If I prioritize self-care, I should be able to overcome it completely.

After a while, the seasoned TV personality found himself choking back emotions and confessed to the crowd, “I honestly believed I could remain composed.

Edwina later disclosed that it was Natalie Barr who helped her receive a prompt diagnosis.

In June, Nat experienced a cancer scare of her own due to a skin cancer detection during a routine examination on her nose. This prompted Edwina to arrange for a comprehensive health evaluation at her personal physician’s office.

She mentioned that she underwent a mammography exam following the discovery of several lumps. Fortunately, the results were clean. Additionally, she also had an eye examination, she shared.

I appreciate your understanding. However, along with that, my physician has asked me to undergo some regular blood tests concurrently. Unfortunately, the results of one of these tests showed some irregularities in my lab values.

‘I’m feeling quite fortunate, and I thought you should know why. For starters, each one of us has been part of so many cherished moments – from home gatherings to here, we’ve witnessed engagements, weddings, and the arrival of new babies. We’re all in this together.’

In July, the Seven learned about her unexpected health condition privately, revealing it only to a select group of colleagues while keeping it hidden from the general public.

As per the Mayo Clinic, Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML) is a relatively uncommon form of cancer that originates in the bone marrow. It advances at a very slow pace.

Progress in therapy has significantly enhanced the outlook for individuals with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML), allowing most newly-diagnosed patients to attain remission and enjoy extended lifespans.
