“Beautifully performed” British drama that’s a “pure tearjerker” has just dropped on Netflix

Acclaimed sad British drama We Live in Time has now been added to Netflix in the UK and Ireland.

The movie that came out last year features Andrew Garfield, known for playing Spider-Man, and Florence Pugh from the Thunderbolts/New Avengers team, portraying a romantic duo whose love story unfolds across an entire decade.

Told in nonlinear fashion, we see their ups, their downs, and everything in-between.

The movie has received numerous favorable critiques, with a 79% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 222 reviews, and an 83% score from 2,000 user evaluations.

It’s generally agreed that Garfield and Pugh share an exceptional acting rapport, making their performances highly recommended for those seeking an emotional cinematic experience.

According to Digital Spy’s review, we referred to the movie as a heart-wrenching film, expressing that although it had some inconsistencies, We Live in Time still manages to tug at one’s heartstrings as a poignant romantic drama that will strike a chord with viewers.

Indeed, the film explores the heartbreaking realization that time slips away from us faster than an eye’s blink, leaving us feeling as if it’s never enough. It’s important to note that it isn’t intended to be a cheerful story.

The Empire magazine referred to the two main actors as an “explosive pair,” whereas the Sydney Morning Herald noted that they “skillfully avoid any trace of sentimentalism.

The film was described by LAist as “deeply emotional and exceptionally well-executed,” while Chicago Sun-Times referred to it as an “emotional, classic tearjerker, executed with sincerity and creativity.

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “John Crowley, the masterful director, skillfully guides his movies with a delicate touch, truly capturing raw emotions. His work rings authentic and genuine, something that many romantic films struggle to achieve.

We Live in Time is available to stream on Netflix in the UK and Ireland now.

The latest print edition from Digital Spy has arrived! You can grab the “Oasis – Live in ’25” issue at your local newsstands or purchase it online for only £8.99.
