BBL Esports honors the memory of Turkish streamer Jrokez at VCT EMEA: Stage 2 Playoffs

BBL Esports honored deceased Turkish streamer Jrokez by dedicating their victory in a moving tribute.

As I stepped onto the stage for our opening match of the VCT EMEA: Stage 2 Playoffs, I couldn’t help but notice something different. There, among the familiar faces, was a photograph – it belonged to our dear friend and Turkish streamer, Oğuzhan “Jrokez” Dalgakıran. His memory lived on that day as we wore a white thread in tribute to him. It was a small gesture, but it meant everything to us. We played for Jrokez, and he was with us every step of the way.

Tribute to Jrokez

At the tender age of 26, Jrokez met an untimely end following a fall from a high-rise balcony on August 20th. Earlier in the day, he expressed feelings of being drained and having no energy in an Instagram post, which surprised his followers as Jrokez had been consistently active as a content creator since 2017, streaming almost every day.

This individual created a robust network centered on his love for video games and soccer. His unexpected demise has left numerous people stunned. At present, Turkish officials are probing into the details of his death. In the interim, his online platforms have been flooded with emotional memorials and sympathetic messages from fans worldwide.

On August 21st, as I cheered during the kickoff of the VCT EMEA: Stage 2 Playoffs, my heart swelled with emotion when I saw BBL Esports, a team from Turkey, commemorate Jrokez. They brought a poignant photograph of him on stage, a visual tribute that touched many hearts. Furthermore, each player proudly displayed a white thread on their arms, symbolizing remembrance and honor for the memory of this remarkable individual. It was a powerful moment, underscoring the deep bond between teams and their fallen comrades in the gaming community.

In a nail-biting 3-2 series victory against FNATIC, BBL Esports moves forward in the VCT EMEA: Stage 2 Upper Bracket, facing Team Heretics on August 22. On the other hand, FNATIC finds themselves in the Lower Bracket, scheduled to battle Karmine Corp on August 23.
