Vigil season 3 is now being filmed, and it features the most diverse group of actors the show has ever had. This includes a performer who recently appeared in the popular Netflix crime series Dept. Q.
The series, which also stars Suranne Jones from Gentleman Jack and Rose Leslie from Game of Thrones, is moving its setting to the Arctic for its third season.
Filming is underway in Svalbard for the latest season, which centers on DCI Amy Silva (played by Jones) and DI Kirsten Longacre (played by Leslie) as they look into a murder at a faraway Arctic research station.

Dept. Q actor Steven Miller is now part of the cast for this upcoming installment, joining talents like Derek Riddell from Industry, Jeppe Beck Laursen of The Last Kingdom, Tornike Gogrichiani known for Extraction 2, and Kaisa Hammarlund who appears in Hijack.
Joining the already impressive cast for season 3 of Vigil are Benjamin Wainwright, Artur Zai Barrera, Jordan Duvigneau, Adam Fidusiewicz, Naomi Yang, Eric Godon, Conor Berry, Amy Manson, Jason Tobin, Steven Cree, Killian Coyle, Alma Prelec, Dawn Sievewright, and Shereen Cutkelvin.

The new season will once again feature Gary Lewis as Detective Superintendent Robertson, Dominic Mafham as Sir Ian Downing, and Orla Russell as Poppy, the daughter of Amy and Kirsten.
The connection between the two main characters and what they do for a living is seriously threatened, because they’re now collaborating on a very important case.
When a soldier from a secret British special forces team is killed, Amy and Kirsten must find the person responsible and prevent a major international crisis. The series also examines the competition for energy and resources in the Arctic, set against the backdrop of the continuing dangers of climate change.

In a statement, Vigil writer and creator Tom Edge expressed his gratitude to the BBC and World Productions for supporting the vision of a story that moves Vigil to the Arctic.
This series explores important challenges facing the future, including the effects of melting ice caps, struggles over limited resources, conflicts over energy, and the dangers people face when seeking both peace and financial gain.
Jake Lushington, executive producer for World Productions, echoed Edge’s feelings.
Lushington announced that filming for the third series of Vigil is beginning, with Suranne and Rose shooting in the stunning arctic scenery of Svalbard. This series boasts our most diverse cast yet, and includes both new and familiar faces from the Scottish acting scene.”
Vigil season 3 is airing on the BBC at a later date. Seasons 1 and 2 are available now on iPlayer.
