The BBC is showing its documentary about Ozzy Osbourne tonight. It had previously removed the film from its schedule over a month ago after the singer’s death. Originally planned to air on August 18th, the documentary was delayed at the very last moment.
Initially known as Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, this one-hour documentary captures the final three years of the iconic rock star’s life. It will be shown on BBC One and iPlayer tonight at 9pm.
After the passing of the Black Sabbath singer at 76 in July, the release of the documentary was put on hold. The BBC explained they were “respecting the family’s wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film”.

Now called Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, the film follows Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s life over the past few years. After moving back to the UK from Los Angeles, the cameras capture the whole family, including their children, Jack and Kelly.
The documentary will additionally show Ozzy getting ready for his final concert, which he performed in Birmingham in July.
So, I just read the synopsis for this doc, and it sounds wild! It was filmed over three years, and it basically follows Sharon and Ozzy as they try to finally move back home to the UK – something they’ve been wanting to do for ages. But it’s not just about the move. It also shows Ozzy really fighting to get back in shape so he can perform again. And, honestly, it looks like things get pretty intense because his health issues cause a lot of drama for the whole family. It sounds like a total emotional roller-coaster, and I’m definitely intrigued. You can find more details here.
This film is packed with love, laughter, and emotional moments – the kind of heartwarming family scenes we’ve all come to enjoy from the Osbournes. It’s a surprisingly honest and inspiring celebration of a true legend, showing the first family of rock as they come to terms with the fact that, as Kelly says in the film, ‘Iron man wasn’t really made of iron’.
Regarding the film, Clare Sillery, BBC Head of Commissioning, Documentaries, previously stated: “We’re very pleased to have been able to film with Ozzy and his family. The film offers a personal look at their experiences as they get ready to move back to the UK.”
This film captures heartwarming family scenes, funny moments, and thoughtful reflections, showcasing the resilient spirit that turned Ozzy into a worldwide star. We believe it will offer solace and happiness to both Ozzy’s longtime fans and new viewers as they fondly remember and celebrate his incredible life.
Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home will air on BBC One and iPlayer tonight at 9pm.
