BBC’s “outstanding” spinoff series confirms it will get more episodes after hugely successful launch

The spin-off of BBC’s “Motherland,” titled “Amandaland,” was a big success among viewers upon its premiere earlier this year, and it has now been confirmed that we can look forward to more laughter-filled parenting antics in the future.

The sitcom is coming back for a second season on iPlayer and BBC One, following its highly popular debut that drew an average of 6.4 million viewers so far, as confirmed by the most recent statistics from Barb.

The funny series chronicles the tumultuous journey of Amanda, a single mom, as she navigates numerous life adjustments after her divorce.

She finds herself needing to confront issues like underage drinking and false social media profiles now that she’s single-handedly raising her children, Manus and Georgie, for the very first time.

Featuring Lucy Punch, Joanna Lumley, and Philippa Dunne, this series boasts an impressive 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with one critic remarking that Amandaland has earned its place among the exceptional newcomers in British comedy.

In addition to the main cast, Siobhán McSweeney, Samuel Anderson, Ekow Quartey, Rochenda Sandall, and Peter Serafinowicz are also featured stars in this popular sitcom.

Overjoyed by the commission for another season of “Amandaland”, its co-writer and creator Holly Walsh expressed: “We’re thrilled by the reaction to our show and are eager to collaborate on the upcoming series.

Sharon Horgan, one of the co-founders at Merman Productions, shared: “When launching any new series, you primarily aim to create something that you adore and feel proud of. It’s an added joy when it receives critical acclaim. Yet, having such a devoted fanbase of this magnitude is truly beyond what one could hope or expect.

It’s truly amazing to witness the fruits of labor by the talented actors, scriptwriters, director, and entire production crew on this series. Their dedication really shines through!

I’d like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Lucy, who’s simply exceptional as our front woman. And a big shout-out to the BBC for believing in the concept of Amandaland right from the start!

Amandaland is available to stream now on BBC iPlayer.
