The BBC’s new prison drama, Waiting For The Out, will be released very soon! It boasts a strong cast and crew, making it a show you won’t want to skip.
This new series is inspired by Andy West’s memoir, The Life Inside, and tells the story of Dan (played by Josh Finan), a philosopher who teaches a class to inmates in prison.
Dan’s job will soon force him to deal with painful memories from his childhood, specifically his difficult relationship with his father and brother. Despite building a different life for himself, his past is about to jeopardize his future.

Alongside Finan, the prison drama features a talented cast including Francis Lovehall, Josef Altin, Steven Meo, Ric Renton, Tom Moutchi, Sule Rimi, and Charlie Rix. They all play inmates taking part in Dan’s class.
The show features a talented supporting cast including Alex Ferns, Ronkẹ Adékoluẹjo, Nima Taleghani, Sophia Brown, Samantha Spiro, Neal Barry, Jude Mack, Gerard Kearns, Stephen Wight, and Phil Daniels. Jeanette Nordahl and Ben Palmer directed the production.

Lindsey Salt, Director of BBC Drama, praised Kelly – the screenwriter behind the film Matilda the Musical – as one of the UK’s most talented writers. She described Kelly’s new series as a story exploring themes of masculinity, letting go of the past, and finding oneself.
Kelly explained that they aimed to capture the humor, depth, beauty, and emotional impact of West’s book in the series, saying, ‘We’ve tried to take that into the series. God alone knows if we’ve succeeded, but we’ve tried.’
Waiting For The Out will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on 3 January.
