BBC’s new murder-mystery dubbed a “gripping series” ‘is on TV tonight

BBC’s new German crime drama The Black Forest Murders is available to watch on TV tonight.

The four-part crime drama, purchased by the BBC from STUDIOCANAL, has been labeled as an “engrossing” viewing experience by BBC’s Head of Programme Acquisitions, Sue Deek.

The drama is based on Walter Roth’s real-life book, SOKO Erle, and revolves around a police investigation conducted in 2016 regarding the killings of two young women in southern Germany.

The crime drama kicks off as the initial victim, brutally murdered, is discovered, leading to an intense police probe. Leading this investigation is Detective Barbara Kramer, portrayed by Nina Kunzendorf.

In an interview, Kunzendorf offered some fascinating tidbits about her character Barbara. She explained that unlike many TV crime detectives, Barbara isn’t weighed down by a complex past or personal struggles. Instead, the crux of the story revolves around her investigations.
