BBC’s most-watched acquisition with Lesley Manville confirms return

The BBC has obtained the rights for the television show “Marble Hall Murders,” which is based on the last book in Anthony Horowitz’s popular, top-selling series.

In continuation with both “Magpie Murders” and “Moonflower Murders”, Lesley Manville reprises her character, Susan Ryeland, in this upcoming story.

Based on BBC reports, the Moonflower Murders series attracted approximately 4.9 million viewers in total – placing it among the BBC’s top-viewed acquired scripted shows of 2024.

In reaction to the news about the upcoming Marble Hall Murders, author Anthony Horowitz expressed his delight: “It’s wonderful to reunite the cast, director, producers, and crew for another installment of this incredibly successful TV series. I have a hunch that this one might even surpass the previous ones.

Lesley Manville will team up with us once more, and so will Tim McMullan, taking on the character of Atticus Pünd again.

Lesley Manville will be joining us for a second time, while Tim McMullan will return to play his role as Atticus Pünd.

Or even more casual:
We’re lucky to have Lesley Manville back on set, and Tim McMullan is coming back as Atticus Pünd too!

The BBC has shared a summary for the series “Marble Hall Murders”, hinting at the new challenges that Susan will face this season.

Upon her return to England, she finds herself unwillingly entangled in a fresh enigma surrounding Atticus Pünd, penned by a budding novelist for the first time.

In the year 1955, the intriguing tale of “‘Pünd’s Last Case'” unfolds within a captivating villa on the island of Corfu. However, the true identity of a lethal culprit remains concealed within its pages, and once more our protagonist, Susan, will find herself perilously endangered in her quest for the truth.

I’m thrilled to share that the production of “Marble Hall Murders” is set to begin in March! This gripping tale will be filmed across captivating locations such as Dublin, Corfu, and London. The talented Rebecca Gatward, known for her work in “Bad Sisters” and “Maternal”, will be directing the project once again. And if that wasn’t exciting enough, Suzanne McAuley, who has produced hits like “Love/Hate”, will also join us on this journey! I can hardly wait to see what they’ll bring to life on screen!

The Marble Hall Murders are set to air on BBC. Currently, you can watch Moonflower Murders and Magpie Murders on BBC iPlayer.
