The classic, comforting crime drama series by the BBC titled “Father Brown” is set to undergo significant changes for its upcoming season.
The afternoon detective series that’s been running on BBC One since 2013, recently completed filming in the Cotswolds for its upcoming 13th season.
To celebrate the event, the BBC has revealed several well-known actors set to make appearances during the season as special guests.
Before we get to that, let’s have a look at the returning cast members.
The cast members Mark Williams, Tom Chambers, Claudie Blakley, Ruby-May Martinwood, John Burton, Nancy Carroll, John Light, Lex Shrapnel, Roger May, and Kieran Hodgson are all set to return for additional episodes of the 1950s murder mystery series. Sorcha Cusack will make a reappearance in the first episode as well.

The following individuals will also be a part of the gathering: Maureen Lipman, Julia Sawalha, Phil Daniels, Debra Stephenson, Davood Ghadami, Kevin Harvey, George Rainsford, and Timothy Watson.
It’s quite clear that the lineup includes several familiar faces for soap opera enthusiasts. Maureen, Debra, Phil, and Davood have all appeared on “Coronation Street,” while George gained recognition from his work on “EastEnders” and “Casualty.
While Kevin made appearances in several episodes of “Hollyoaks” in the year 2009, Timothy has been a consistent character in a different type of soap opera, specifically on “The Archers.
In terms of the storyline, there are hints that Father Brown becomes involved in a game of cat-and-mouse with Father Lazarus while he’s behind bars, as Bishop-Elect Canon Fox hatches his vengeful plot. Meanwhile, the Sullivans start their married life, Brenda begins her personal growth journey, and everyone heads off for a vacation by the sea.

According to Helen Munson, the Commissioning Editor for BBC Daytime, Father Brown’s devoted followers will not be left disappointed by the newest episodes. The talented team at BBC Studios has once again produced a remarkable series, and there are even some thrilling special guest stars featured as well!
Neil Irvine, our Executive Producer, expressed his joy by saying, “It’s fantastic to have Mark Williams returning as Father Brown for an extraordinary 13th season! This upcoming series is set to be the most thrilling yet.
Our audience is in for some exciting events! Mrs McCarthy’s comeback, a rock’n’roll takeover, and a day at the beach are among the delightful surprises we have prepared. Meanwhile, Father Brown faces a precarious situation as Canon Fox gets elected Bishop – will he manage to solidify his position in Kembleford?
As a devoted fan, I eagerly look forward to catching the latest episodes of Father Brown on BBC One, typically during the months of January to March. For those who can’t wait (like myself!), previous episodes are readily available for streaming on iPlayer.
