BBC’s hit crime drama with Irish detective confirms UK return date after ‘twisted cliffhanger’

The long-awaited second season of The Gone is nearly here, preparing to tackle some of the fans’ most pressing concerns following an ominous cliffhanger. According to Radio Times, it’s a “twisted” ending that perfectly fits the series.

In a small-town countryside of New Zealand, the BBC series introduces Richard Flood from Grey’s Anatomy as the Irish detective Theo Richter. Partnering with him is Detective Diana Huia, portrayed by Acushla-Tara Kupe who hails from New Zealand.

Approximately one year since the debut of The Gone, it’s anticipated that season 2 will air on BBC Two at 9pm on July 31st. Additionally, the series will be available as a complete boxset for streaming on iPlayer at the same time.

What to Read Next

In Season 1, Theo and Diana joined forces to delve into the mystery surrounding the vanishing of an Irish duo during their travels in New Zealand. As they peeled back layers from the seemingly idyllic exterior, it became apparent that the two were connected to a series of historic killings in the region.

Season 2 will centre on a new case linking back to one of the great mysteries of season one.

In the forthcoming episodes, we’ll discover whether one character from the last episode managed to survive intact.

Towards the close of chapter one, Irish reporter Aileen Ryan (portrayed by Carolyn Bracken) embarked on a journey into the mountains, seeking additional proof. Upon approaching a secluded cabin, her path was disrupted by an enigmatic character, leaving her destiny uncertain.

Towards the end, Theo phoned her just as he was about to depart on a plane bound for Ireland. The shot then focused on Aileen’s cell phone, which rang ominously with a stain of blood.

Season 2 will focus on her disappearance, as Theo stays in Mount Affinity to work on the case.

When she seemingly vanished during an investigation into the local Mountain Murders, rumored to be connected to history, the investigators find themselves in a tense game of hide-and-seek with ‘The Goatman’, who has resurfaced and presents a greater threat than before.

Actress Michelle Fairley, known for her role in “Game of Thrones,” will once again take on the character of Judge Hannah Martin in the second season of “The Disappeared.

In a peaceful, rustic town named Mount Affinity, the character is working tirelessly to mend her traumatized daughter Sinead, portrayed by actress Rachel Morgan from Galway. After her harrowing ordeal of kidnapping, Sinead’s mental state has become increasingly fragile.

The second season of “The Gone” television series will debut on BBC Two on July 31, and it will also be streamed on iPlayer on the same day. If you missed out on the first season, you can find it streaming on the same platform as well.
