As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement after catching the first glimpse of the upcoming eight-episode series! In this intense power struggle, you’ll see me engaged as two main characters fight tooth and nail for the throne. Accompanying them are their formidable queens – Edith Swan-neck, portrayed brilliantly by Emily Beecham, and Matilda, brought to life masterfully by Clémence Poésy.

The cast is completed by Ray Donovan’s Eddie Marsan playing King Edward, Truly, Madly, Deeply’s Juliet Stevenson portraying Lady Emma, and Kaos’ Elander Moore assuming the role of Morcar.

In this production, Clare Holman plays Gytha, joined by Luther Ford from ‘The Crown’ as Tostig, Bo Bragason from ‘The Radleys’ portraying Queen Gunhild, and Geoff Bell from ‘MobLand’ assuming the role of Godwin.

Additionally, Jean-Marc Barr, Elliott Cowan, Bjarne Henriksen, Oliver Masucci, Indy Lewis, Jason Forbes, Ingvar Sigurdsson, Ines Asserson, Sveinn Ólafur Gunnarsson, and Léo Legrand are among the cast members.

The program titled “King & Conqueror” is scheduled to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in August; however, the specific launch date remains undisclosed at this time.

King & Conqueror” recounts an epochal conflict that shaped the destiny of a nation and a continent over a millennium. This struggle traces its origins deep in the past and unfolds through two intertwined royal families, each battling for dominance across two nations and a tumultuous ocean.

Harold from Wessex and William originating from Normandy were originally unconnected individuals, but fate brought them together at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Initially, neither harbored aspirations for the English throne, but due to unforeseen circumstances and personal ambitions, they became embroiled in a conflict over who would claim the crown.

King & Conqueror will be released on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in August
