BBC’s “dazzling” drama from The Split boss, also with Nicola Walker, is now streaming free in the UK

In the UK, you can now stream the BBC drama “River,” created by the same mind behind “The Split” and featuring Nicola Walker, at no cost. Enjoy!

The TV series created by Abi Morgan aired only once in 2015 on BBC One, and it’s no longer available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

Now, the complete version of it is accessible on ITVX. This means viewers can stream it for free with advertisements, or they can opt for the ITVX Premium tier at £5.99 per month or £59.99 annually.

The series chronicles Detective Inspector John River, portrayed by Stellan Skarsgård from “Andor” and “Mamma Mia!”, as he grapples with the mourning of his partner and close friend, DS Jackie Stevenson (Walker), who has tragically passed away.

Although he’s forbidden from investigating the murder case, he’s determined not to be deterred. Could the ghostly apparitions of his former partner guide him towards uncovering the truth behind her demise?

In addition to Walker and Skarsgård, the series also includes Eddie Marsan, Lesley Manville, Adeel Akhtar, Adjoa Andoh, Owen Teale, and Georgina Rich as part of its stellar cast.

Among many comments, it’s noticeable that the show River distinguishes itself from other genre shows by incorporating unique aspects which catch viewers off guard, as expressed in reviews like “unusual elements” (London Evening Standard) and “pulls the rug out from under you” (The Guardian).
