BBC star Alex Scott has revealed that racist online trolls threatened her with acid attacks.
In a recent chat, the ex-footballer and popular “Strictly Come Dancing” contestant opened up on the downsides of being famous, revealing that she’s faced hateful incidents such as racism, abusive comments, and even menacing death threats throughout her career.
In an interview with The Times, Scott stated, “When rumors circulated that I was set to take over from Sue Barker as the host of A Question of Sport, some individuals commented, ‘He’s only getting this role because he’s black, female, and younger. It’s just a case of checking off boxes.’
She shared that she hesitated to leave her home due to threats from trolls about hurling acid at her, but fortunately, there are individuals who brighten her day. These kind souls would approach her in the neighborhood store and encourage her, which is exactly what she continues to do.
This past year’s been quite a whirlwind for me, as I found myself sharing my life with the amazing Jess Glynne, who I made public my relationship with back in January by posting some heartwarming snaps from our winter getaway. We then graced the red carpet at the BRITs together.
Apart from that, it’s worth mentioning that Scott has been added to the roster of hosts for KISS radio. He will be gracing our ears every Sunday evening as part of Super KISSTORY.
In her statement made after the announcement in April, she expressed her excitement by saying, “While it’s common knowledge that I have a passion for football, music is equally important to my identity. I’m elated to be reunited with my KISS team and looking forward to delving into my collection to share more Old Skool tunes and anthems every Sunday.
Scott mentioned that he wants to keep the fun and relaxed atmosphere going right through until Sunday evening, preparing everyone well for the upcoming week.
