Comedian, ornithologist and wildlife presenter Bill Oddie has sadly died at the age of 85.
Though he first became famous with the comedy group The Goodies, many people later came to know him as a presenter on the BBC’s Springwatch and Autumnwatch.
I was so shocked and saddened to hear the news – David Foster, Bill Oddie’s agent, just announced that he passed away. He really was Britain’s most beloved birdwatcher, and I’ll miss him terribly.
Bill was incredibly talented – he worked as a wildlife presenter, broadcaster, comedian, writer, musician, and also dedicated himself to conservation. Despite all his success, though, he didn’t care much about being famous.
He didn’t just tell stories; he really showed us how amazing nature is and why we needed to take care of it. I remember him always fighting for the environment – protesting, talking to politicians, and running campaigns to protect it. It wasn’t just a lesson, it was something he lived.
He took the lead, and people from every walk of life joined his effort. This incredible support for protecting nature will have a lasting impact.
