BBC Viewers Roast John Newman’s “Nasal” VE Day Performance, Say It Was “Painful to Watch”

Viewers have criticized John Newman’s performance during the BBC’s 80th Anniversary celebration of VE Day.

34-year-old vocalist became part of an illustrious group that performed in honor of our country’s war veterans, holding a memorable concert at London’s Horseguards Parade.

This evening’s concert, held at London’s Horseguards Parade, signifies the culmination of several celebratory events this week commemorating the 80th anniversary of VE Day. VE Day, short for Victory in Europe Day, marks the day when the Second World War officially ended in Europe back in 1945.

In 2013, John became widely recognized due to his popular track “Love Me Again.” After stepping away from the music scene in 2020, he recently displayed his singing talents on stage. However, his performance failed to impress the audience.

Among the posts about X, there were some expressing disbelief, such as “Oh my goodness. John Newman is… agonizing. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but bring back The Darkness as soon as possible!

‘Who the hell told John Newman he could sing, premium nasal mumbling that. Can’t make one word out.

‘The Audience listening to John Newman; What a row from John Newman, that’s not singing

While tuned into the VE Day 80 commemorations on television, I found myself wondering, “Who exactly is John Newman?” His performance struck me as one of the most disappointing I’ve ever witnessed. It was virtually impossible to hear him; a real struggle.

‘John Newman being taken over by the spirit of Kenneth Williams to celebrate VE Day;

‘What in the First Response Nasal Spray has happened to John Newman;

‘John Newman sounds like my dog when he yawns.’

John’s performance followed closely behind that of the rock band The Darkness, causing a bit of bewilderment among certain spectators due to their previous signing.

Although numerous admirers applauded the band and frontman Justin Hawkins for their lively show, some expressed perplexity regarding the choice to recruit them, taking into account the specific audience present.

In conversation with X, it was pointed out by fans that several veterans might lean towards the classic tunes featured in the show. Humorously, they seemed surprised to discover that The Darkness enjoyed such a significant fanbase among military veterans.

It seemed that Queen Camilla shared similar feelings, as evidenced when the camera showed her putting her fingers in her ears during a conversation with 107-year-old World War II bomber pilot Harry Richardson.

In another location, King Charles (age 76) and Queen Camilla (age 77) beamed with joy during a special musical event, joined by Prince Edward (age 61) and his spouse Sophie (age 60).

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I couldn’t help but be captivated by the timeless elegance of the three-time mother who graced the room in a stunning all-white attire. It was none other than a restyled masterpiece from Self-Portrait – the Cream Tailored Bouclé and Chiffon Midi Dress, effortlessly exuding sophistication once again.

Among the artists showcased are the ensemble from the World War II musical Operation Mincemeat, Samantha Barks, a West End icon delivering a moving interpretation of We’ll Meet Again, Fleur East, Calum Scott, John Newman, Toploader, and Tom Walker.

In another location, the renowned actor Brian Cox (known from Succession) gave an emotional rendition of Winston Churchill’s famous wartime address.

May 8, 1945 marked the day of jubilant celebration known as Victory in Europe (VE) Day. Church bells chimed joyously throughout the land and people flocked together to celebrate the end of warfare, with throngs gathering outside Buckingham Palace, voicing their admiration for King George VI.

Six years into the struggle against Adolf Hitler’s Nazi empire, a ceasefire was announced, even though the conflict with Japan persisted until August of that same year.
