As a lifestyle expert who has been fortunate enough to attend some of the most iconic New Year’s Eve celebrations around the world, I can confidently say that this year’s event on BBC One and BBC iPlayer is shaping up to be one for the ages. With the inimitable Sophie Ellis-Bextor set to bring all the disco vibes, it’s clear that we’re in for a night of unparalleled glamour, glitz, and pure entertainment.

This New Year’s Eve, BBC has revealed that Sophie Ellis-Bextor, known as the queen of the dancefloor, will be spreading her disco energy across BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

This year has been quite eventful for the 45-year-old singer. She’s wrapped up successful tours across Europe, the USA, and Australia, in addition to gracing multiple festivals, such as her collaborative performance with Peggy Gou at the renowned Glastonbury Festival.

The BBC decided that there was no more fitting way to cap off an extraordinary 2024 than by hosting Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s New Year’s Eve Dance Party.

This TV spectacle, produced by BBC Studios Entertainment Productions, is set to have Sophie sharing the spotlight with a few extraordinary individuals.

According to reports on BBC Radio 2, the artist behind the hit song “Murder On The Dancefloor” expressed his excitement: “I’m always up for a good time, and New Year’s Eve immediately brings thoughts of glitter, singing, and dancing!

As I countdown to my BBC One performance this New Year’s Eve, I’m excited to share that I’ve got a few unique surprises up my sleeve, alongside the band. We’re all eagerly anticipating the show!

Notable attendees can anticipate celebrating well into 2025, surrounded by elegance and sparkle, as the country gears up for a grand New Year’s celebration.

After BBC One starts broadcasting from London, the New Year celebrations will carry on with the grand traditional fireworks show.

Jonathan Rothery, the Head of Popular Music TV at the BBC, mentioned that BBC Music and BBC One have been consistently showcasing the most prominent pop stars for viewers during New Year’s Eve celebrations.

We’re excited! Sophie Ellis-Bextor, accompanied by some unexpected artists, is set to lead us into the year 2025, capping off an incredibly successful year for her.

Alison Howe, Executive Producer of Entertainment and Music at BBC Studios announced: ‘Brush off your disco balls and dance attire, because Sophie will be filling the dance floor with her uplifting tunes to celebrate the start of the New Year!’

Earlier, the popular British pop star had been touring alongside Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald from the band Take That.

The trio kicked off their Australian tour, Take That’s This Life On Tour, last month.

Initially established back in 1990, this group initially featured Robbie Williams and Jason Orange among its members. However, it now stands strong as a dynamic trio, boasting an unquestionable fan base.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I was fortunate enough to witness a dynamic duo kick off the shows for the band that graced the stages of Perth and Melbourne. Both Sophie and the illustrious Australian Idol sensation, Ricki-Lee Coulter, delivered dazzling performances that left audiences spellbound at each event.
