BBC to pay tribute to Hairy Bikers’ Dave Myers with special episode
As a long-time admirer of the Hairy Bikers duo, I eagerly await the upcoming BBC special, “The Hairy Bikers: You’ll Never Ride Alone.” Having followed their adventures for years, I can’t help but feel a mix of sadness and joy as I remember the indelible mark Dave Myers left on our screens.
The BBC has announced a one-off special to commemorate late Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers.
In the upcoming documentary “You’ll Never Ride Alone” on BBC Two, airing before Christmas, Si King, a fellow biker and close companion of Myers, pays tribute to his friend’s life in a moving new production.
During the show, Si plans on highlighting significant instances from the last 25 years of Dave and Si’s television journeys, celebrating a unique camaraderie that will revolutionize cooking shows for good, hints the program’s summary.
In February of this year, Myers unfortunately lost his life at the age of 66. Previously, in 2022, he had shared that he was battling cancer.
In this upcoming game of mine, I’ll be diving into some classic clips, chatting with new interviewees, and unveiling never-before-seen content. Plus, we’ll take a virtual trip down memory lane during the heartfelt memorial journey for Myers, just a month after his departure from our gaming world.
Approximately 45,000 bicyclists, headed by a figure known as ‘King’, embarked on a ride from London to Barrow-in-Furness, with the intention of honoring the memory of the recently deceased celebrity.
The journey marked the end of King’s tenure as a Hairy Biker, signifying the conclusion of their 25-year partnership in this line of work.
King expressed that the documentary was an incredibly heartwarming event to put together. Filled with reminiscences, laughter, and a tribute to my dearest friend’s life, he said.
King has stated in an article published in The Sunday Times that he has been finding it difficult following the demise of Myers.
At a certain moment, he remembered feeling like he was about to hop onto his bicycle and ride off towards the setting sun without any plans of returning. However, he has since managed to find some tranquility regarding what steps to take next.
He penned, “I’ll be spending some moments contemplating our shared life with my dearest friend, and considering the path ahead.” This, he believed, aligns perfectly with what Dave desired – to advance, not linger in reminiscences of the past.
The Hairy Bikers: You’ll Never Ride Alone will air on BBC Two next month.
