BBC shares first look at Outnumbered Christmas special
As a long-time fan of the Brockman family’s hilarious antics, I can hardly contain my excitement for their return in the upcoming Outnumbered Christmas special! It’s been eight long years since we last saw them, and I’ve missed their chaotic family dynamics terribly. The thought of watching Pete and Sue navigate the challenges of a traditional family Christmas with their now-grown children is both comforting and nerve-wracking – much like my own holiday experiences!
The BBC has shared some new photos from the upcoming Outnumbered Christmas special.
In 2024, following an absence of eight years, the Brockman family is set to make their comeback in a holiday-themed episode airing on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9:40 PM on December 26th.
In this new installment, images reveal a return of Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner as the Brockman parents, Pete and Sue, alongside Tyger Drew-Honey, Daniel Roche, and Ramona Marquez playing the roles of their adult kids, Jake, Ben, and Karen respectively.
In a challenging situation, Sue and Pete collect their children, along with one grandchild, in an effort to celebrate a classic family-style Christmas, as described in the episode summary.
“But fate, neighbours, hyenas and bus replacement services get in their way.”
When the announcement of the special was made in May, Hugh Dennis playfully hinted that “Pete and Sue have moved into a smaller home, their children are grown now, but I’m certain family life will continue to be as tumultuous as always.
Two years ago, right around the holidays of ’16, you’d find me reminiscing about the good old days of my favorite show, as it was last time I saw the Brockmans on screen – back then, we said our farewells.
Lately, during an interview with Radio Times, Tyger Drew-Honey discussed the potential return of Outnumbered, stating: “Well, truthfully, it’s not impossible. There’s no particular reason why it couldn’t happen… One should never rule anything out.
The actress’ screen-referred sibling, Ramona Marquez, appeared optimistic as well, saying: “It might take on a slightly unique form… Yet, such occurrences aren’t unheard of, right? They often return after some time, so we’d definitely consider it.
You can catch up with the “Outnumbered” Christmas special starting at 9:40 PM on December 26, available for viewing on both BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
