BBC shares first-look at new Glasgow-set adaptation with Grey’s Anatomy star
As a lifelong fan of Jacqueline Wilson’s heartwarming stories and a dedicated follower of Kevin McKidd’s illustrious career, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming BBC adaptation of “The Primrose Railway Children”. Having grown up with the original “Railway Children” and cherishing every moment spent with the Robinsons, I eagerly anticipate this modern retelling that promises to capture the essence of Edith Nesbitt’s classic novel.
The BBC unveiled a sneak peek at their upcoming remake of Jacqueline Wilson’s novel, “The Primrose Railway Children”, featuring the talented actor from Grey’s Anatomy, Kevin McKidd, as its star.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about an upcoming special that breathes new life into Edith Nesbitt’s timeless novel, The Railway Children. This new adaptation follows the Robinson family as they experience a dramatic shift, leaving their life in bustling Glasgow behind to settle in the rugged, secluded highlands of Scotland.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that the latest images reveal McKidd and Nina Toussaint-White as Rob and Sarah Robinson, their on-screen family. These include Phoebe (played by Ava McCarthy), Becks (Ida Brooke), and Perry (Tylan Bailey). What a delightful sight to behold!
Tom Bidwell, known for his work on “The Velveteen Rabbit” and “The Irregulars”, is adapting the story “The Primrose Railway Children”. This adaptation will air as a standalone, 90-minute TV special.
Wilson expressed his eagerness in a statement (via BBC), saying, “I can hardly wait to witness this fresh take on my book ‘The Primrose Railway Children’. It’s going to be a delightful experience for everyone in the family.
Back in July, when the movie was initially announced, McKidd mentioned: “Reading Tom’s exceptional script was truly delightful – it beautifully encapsulates the essence and feelings of my cherished childhood film, The Railway Children. Given this, it was an effortless choice to return and shoot this production in Scotland.
He went on saying, “It never fails to fill me with pride and joy to return home and collaborate with the exceptionally talented teams that Scotland is richly endowed with.
I’m eagerly looking forward to embodying the role of Rob and collaborate with this thrilling ensemble in our fresh take on the beloved British tale. This promises to be a captivating film experience that the whole family can enjoy together.
The Primrose Railway Children will air on the BBC this Christmas.
