President Donald Trump has sent a letter to the BBC, threatening to sue them. This is because a recent Panorama documentary about the January 6th Capitol riots included an edited version of one of his speeches.
After the recent issues with an edit, Tim Davie, the BBC’s director general, and Deborah Turness, head of news, have both resigned.
A BBC representative has confirmed they received a letter from Donald Trump and will reply to it soon.

So, the BBC Chairman, Samir Shah, just let everyone know that Trump and his team reached out to us, and we’re figuring out how to respond. It’s a bit wild, honestly, getting contacted by a former president like that – definitely not something you expect when you’re just trying to enjoy some gaming!
So, someone asked me if Trump’s gonna sue the BBC, and honestly, I have no idea. But knowing his history, he loves a good lawsuit, so I’m guessing we should probably expect something to happen. Just gotta be ready for anything, you know?

The Panorama documentary faced criticism after it was discovered the BBC had altered a portion of Donald Trump’s speech from January 6th.
In the documentary, Trump states he’ll join the march to the Capitol and urges people to fight, saying, “We fight like hell, and if you don’t fight like hell, you’re not gonna have a country anymore.”
He stated that he would walk to the Capitol with the crowd to support the senators and congressmen, repeating his intention to walk with them and go wherever they wanted.
Davie announced his resignation Sunday evening, stating that, like any public organization, the BBC isn’t flawless and should always prioritize openness, transparency, and accountability.
Although it wasn’t the sole factor, the recent discussions about BBC News definitely played a part in my decision.
The BBC is generally performing well, though we’ve had some setbacks. As director general, I take full responsibility for those.
