BBC Radio 1’s Roisin Hastie Survives 37 Hour Labour, Reveals Unusual Baby Name
BBC Radio 1 star Roisin Hastie has given birth to her second child.
On Thursday, the host of the ‘Fact Controller’ segment on the radio shared a joyous announcement via Instagram, and in this post, she disclosed the name of her newly-arrived baby boy as well.
On behalf of the loving couple, Jimmy Blake, Roisin’s music producer, publicly announced their happiness over their newborn son and showered his wife with affection, while also sharing the very first picture of their little bundle of joy online.
He wrote: ‘LIFE! Overwhelming emotions, yet our small universe is brimming. Come join us, Arlo. Rosie, I don’t think I’ll ever recover from what you’ve done. Good grief. ARLO!!! Hugs.’
The post received numerous heartfelt congratulations from other radio personalities and listeners, among them being Charlie Hedges from Radio 1.
She said: ‘Awwww lovely news, congratulations to you all xxx.’
In a heartfelt exclamation, BBC Radio’s Bettwyn Clover expressed delight: “Bravo, fantastic job everyone! Rosie, you’re truly heroic. Arlo, welcome to earth!”

On Thursday, it was broadcast live over the radio that Roisin’s former colleague and friend, Greg James (age 39), announced the birth of Arlo, their baby.
Greg shared with the audience: ‘Let’s discuss my former partner, Roisin Hastie. We have some fresh, exciting updates to share.’
Just now, I got a thrilling piece of news straight from Jimmy Blake himself! It turns out my beloved Roisin has welcomed a precious little bundle of joy into the world – a handsome baby boy named Arlo. I’m overjoyed for them and can’t wait to see this adorable tyke grow up!
At last, charming Arlo made his appearance at 4:55 this morning. Charming Rosie, who will resume her duties on the morning news once she returns from maternity leave.
37 hours of labor! Kudos to the midwives, Eve and Gemma, who seemed to have been present throughout the entire process. I plan on making little Arlo a standout figure in our lives.
Rosin and Jimmy are already parents to a little girl.
The couple tied the knot in September 2021.
In the year 2022, Roisin publicly announced her first pregnancy during a live radio broadcast, supported by her friend Greg.
On the air, Greg announced: ‘At long last, here’s Roisin, hailing from The Wirral. She’s seated right in front of me in the studio.’
Roisin shared with her audience, “I believe it’s high time I let you all in on a little secret: I’m expecting a baby.
With the announcement causing excitement, Greg commented: ‘It seemed odd that we hadn’t informed our audience about this and it was becoming rather absurd’, while Roisin chimed in: ‘Funnily enough, Greg, even your parents found out after you.’
‘It was just early morning work stuff, I had to tell you I’m pregnant.’
