The BBC recently revealed an initial image from their upcoming show titled “Can You Keep A Secret?” since production for the series has officially started.
In this six-act comedic series, you’ll find Dawn French, Mark Heap, Mandip Gill, and Craig Roberts starring in a witty sitcom that unfolds in the scenic West Country, where they get up to all sorts of trouble.
In simpler terms, the character Debbie Fendon, portrayed by an actress, mourns her on-screen spouse named William (acted by Heap), after he is mistakenly pronounced deceased in the storyline.
The couple, in an attempt to benefit from a mix-up, chose to claim a life insurance payout and conceal William in the loft. However, their scheme started to unravel when their son Harry (Roberts) and his wife Neha (Gill), who is a police officer, found out about it.
Will the family be able to keep the secret? Or will someone let things slip?
Last year, when it was announced that “Can You Keep A Secret?” was coming out, French humorously commented: “Finally…a sitcom where I can mostly keep my shirt on.
Jon Petrie, director of BBC Comedy, commented: “Can You Keep a Secret? offers a humorous exploration into a seldom-depicted phase of family life, skillfully combining traditional sitcom aspects with a thrilling, comedic crime twist.
“Starring Dawn French and Mark Heap, this fresh comedy is hard to resist, and I’m eager for BBC viewers to enjoy it.
In addition to boasting a high-profile ensemble, this six-part series is helmed by director Simon Hynd (of Ghosts fame) and produced by Simon Mayhew-Archer from This Country.
As a gamer, I can tell you that teaming up with Dawn French has been a lifelong goal of mine, and her unique comedic talent is like a cherished treasure in this industry. Having the legendary Mark Heap on board, along with Simon Mayhew-Archer and Simon Hynd, feels like a dream come true for any producer.
