BBC One star leaves fans worried after revealing he has been ‘bed bound for five weeks’ and is ‘badly dehydrated’ after suffering a stroke
As a fervent admirer of Michael Baggott, a man whose knowledge and passion for antiques has graced our screens for over two decades, I find myself deeply concerned by his recent ordeal. It’s heart-wrenching to see such a vibrant spirit, who has brought joy to countless homes with his expertise on Flog It!, suffering in this manner.
Michael Baggott, known for Flog It!, alarmed fans when he posted several videos from his hospital room on a Saturday.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve found myself confined to bed at Good Hope Hospital in Birmingham for the past five weeks following a stroke. I wanted to share this update with all my dear followers on social media.
On several concerning videos posted to his account, he asserted that he barely received any water and felt severely dehydrated.
He recorded himself saying to his followers: “A week has passed, and for the past two days, I’ve been able to drink liquids. Unfortunately, for a while there, I had no water at all, causing me to become severely dehydrated.
For the past three days, I’ve been receiving a liter of water, but it hasn’t been enough to prevent me from feeling dehydrated.
‘The gaps between being given water have been 15 hours, 17 hours with no water, 12 hours with no water and currently 15 hours with no water intravenous.’
He commented: “I feel extremely dehydrated in this British National Health Service hospital, yet I can’t find anyone who appears ready to address the issue.
In simpler terms, I’d like to express that the nursing team and junior doctors here have been our lifelines. They are eager to assist, but due to certain circumstances, they can’t. Unfortunately, the higher-ups in management and senior doctors, who I rarely encounter, consistently deny water and treatment options.
Yesterday, someone warned me that if I don’t improve my thoughts quickly, I may not be able to walk within three weeks. Although the junior team said this was false, it underscores the kind of treatment given here.
‘All the staff are busting their gut to help you, the management and the senior surgeons are not.’
In the comments section, he explained that he has been bedridden for a full five weeks. On Sunday, he posted an update expressing increased feelings of joy and optimism.
In the video, he expressed: “At long last, I’m hydrated, Radio 3 playing softly, and feeling somewhat brighter and more optimistic. A big thank you to everyone who attended or reached out. Here’s hoping this journey towards recovery begins now.
TopMob has contacted Good Hope Hospital for comment.
spectators expressed worry following the videos, and many posted messages offering guidance and goodwill as a response.
Hello Michael, I’m sorry to learn about your struggles. There must be a valid explanation behind the medical team’s decision to restrict your access to water. Please try to remain calm in the face of this situation. We are all cheering you on!
‘Gosh, it’s unbelievable that it could get this bad! Wishing you a very speedy recovery, Michael.’
‘I hope you feel much better very soon, so sorry to hear you have been so poorly.’
‘Sending our love and best wishes Michael, keep your spirits up and keep on believing.’
‘Michael I hope you start feeling better soon, don’t give up x.’
Dear Michael, I’m utterly taken aback and genuinely disheartened to hear about your situation. Just like the rest of us here, all I can do is extend my heartfelt wishes for a swift and complete recovery. Hang in there, mate; show resilience and strength during these trying times.
Here’s a suggestion for paraphrasing your message in a friendly, approachable manner:
Michael is widely known for his appearances on the show “Flog It” on BBC One, particularly distinguished in areas such as antique silver, miniature crafts, wooden containers, early cutlery, regional and foreign silver items.
Flog It!, a beloved daytime TV show that debuted in 2002, allows regular people to have their prized belongings appraised by a panel of professionals.
2018 saw its decision to cancel my favorite show, paving the way for six fresh commission slots aimed at modernizing the daily lineup.
