BBC confirms release date for highly-anticipated new Agatha Christie drama
The BBC has officially announced when its fresh take on Agatha Christie‘s novel, titled “Towards Zero,” will be airing, accompanied by a sneak peek preview.
In a coming-agenda, an intriguing whodunit unfolds as estranged ex-spouses Nevile and Audrey, portrayed by Oliver Jackson Cohen and Ella Lily Hyland respectively, pass the summer on the property of his aunt, Lady Tressilian (Anjelica Huston).
Nevile’s new wife Kay (Mimi Keene) also arrives, creating tensions, while a murder takes place.
The secret’s out! “Towards Zero” is set to debut its entire three-episode series on BBC iPlayer starting Sunday, March 2nd, from 6am. Later that day, it will make its television premiere on BBC One at 9pm, with additional episodes airing in the weeks to follow.
A teaser trailer has been released, hinting at death, as Clarke Peters’ character, Mr Treves, narrates: “Every killing has its starting point… when the act of murder is sown, its beginning. An insult, an injury, a grudge, something that simmers and grows, pulling us unknowingly towards its source.
We also catch a peek at the primary cast, hinting at an emotionally charged atmosphere since Kay voices concerns about sharing the summer with Nevile’s former partner.
Matthew Rhys’s character, Inspector Leach, expresses his disapproval of others’ actions, saying, “It seems you all consider the world to be a place for amusement.
In the year 1936, the plot unfolds as follows: “The lingering issues between the ex-boyfriend and girlfriend from their childhood days, coupled with the arrival of Neville’s recent spouse, Kay, create a palpable atmosphere of tension.
Include a loyal servant for a patient woman, a secretive butler to a mysterious man, a disgruntled relative banished from the family, an elderly attorney of esteemed status, a curious street child, and a cunning French swindler, and before long, a killing may occur.
As I, a tormented investigator, embark on this journey, I find myself grappling with the need to rekindle my sense of mission. Ensnared in a perilous net of envy, duplicity, and dysfunction, I must untangle this complex web. Will I unravel the mystery before another innocent soul meets their tragic end?
A passionate love triangle, a strong-willed matriarch, and a house filled with adversaries. Drawing them all… Toward the end point.
The series has been adapted by NW‘s Rachel Bennette and is directed by Magpie‘s Sam Yates.
Towards Zero premieres on BBC iPlayer on Sunday, March 2 from 6am, and airs on BBC One at 9pm.
